Pulled pork bbq sandwich is so so so yummy. Their bbq sauce is great, and today I tried their hot sauce and it was so good I bought some. This place is always consistent, always busy, for good reason and the staff are so extremely friendly.
Always packed but the line goes fast. BBQ is great including the ribs. Onions rings are above par as well and the sauce has the right amount of heat.
They live off a outdated reputation. The BBQ is not good. I really want to like it but it’s not good. The sauce is some catsup cinnamon concoction that doesn’t work for anything.
Don’t bother with this over-rated BBQ. My spouse ordered the pork shanks. He said they were dry and small. He rates them 5 (out of 10). He also had the catfish which he rated at 7. I had a disappointing burger. Although fresh, the burger was small and lacked the smokiness I was looking for. French fries were crinkle cut and dry. Onion rings had a thick and heavy batter that I didn’t like. The only thing I liked was the lemon pound cake. While it was really average, it stood above this other wise disappointing meal.
Just Bad BBQ. If you want non-BBQ eat at Pierce’s. If you want good BBQ go almost anywhere else – even Smokey Bones is far better than here. I’m sure the BBQ comes from a can, or at least from a school menu. NN area has some pretty good BBQ, but not here. I cannot understand why some reviews say the person has come here for years and just loves it. They must have never eaten BBQ anywhere else.
Wife and I had the JC Special on our visit here; it was fantastic! We wish we had one in our neighborhood. We also had the hush puppies and onion rings. The onion rings were probably the best we’ve ever had. All this tasty food and at a great price! Well worth the stop; we will make this one of our places to eat every time we’re in town from now on!
Not my favorite kind of BBQ, but what they do, they do well. You can expect a well-sauced sandwich of shredded pork and a unique tomato-based sauce, heavy on the cinnamon with a hint of apple. Decent onion rings, too.
