Umi Sushi is a beautiful sushi bar next to historic Yorktown’s beach. The couple who owned the restaurant were perfect company, engaging me in conversation during my lunch. I chose a tuna cucumber and an eel and avocado roll from the fresh fish in front of me. The chef made everything to order in front of me as I looked around at their extensive selection of sake and Japanese wine. The tuna roll was massive and delicious. The eel roll stole the show. It was the best eel I’ve had since living on the DC area. It was grilled perfectly in teriyaki, the eel extremely fresh. For the price, I had an incredibly reasonably priced, delectable meal. The small bar is perfect for small groups and dates, the restaurant brightly decorated yet intimate in seating. This was the highlight of all the meals I had traveling in the area. If I’m every traveling that way in the future, I will have to stop by again!
