Allie and Lorry. This evening we were deciding on a place to go for dinner. After discussing our favorite spots we decided on Chinese food. First we were going to go to Sprague Ave. but then upon searching online for Chinese restaurants in Airway Heights we came across La Lai Gardens, read the many positive reviews and decided to give them a try.We were more than satisfied with this establishment. The staff, cleanliness, quietness, and delicious food more than makes up for it’s size.We were greeted very pleasantly, shown to our table, and our food was brought to us in no time. The portions were good sized, and the food as stated earlier was delicious. We are very happy to have discovered this place closer to home and needless to say will be returning in the future for another great dining experience
18 years and still great!!!. I have to drive 67 miles one way to get the BEST Chinese food on this side of the Cascades. I gauge the goodness of Chinese restaurants by the won ton soup, the pork fried rice and the bar-b-q pork. A dear friend introduced me to this restaurant when they were located in Spokane at the base of the Division hill. They moved when the one way construction started, years and years ago. This is a very humble restaurant but one of my favorites. I used to get to eat in China Town in San Fransisco, so I value good Chinese food. I always get the large order of pork fried rice, a cup of wonton soup the Lai Lai Garden Special Chowmaine and the bar-b-q pork(I like the ends)….I was shocked to read some reviews of Lai Lai that were less than great….I can’t believe them. Makes me wonder if the competition is being underhanded. I have never in all the 18 years I have eaten there, never had a bad meal or seen anyone else have one! You must try this restaurant and get something other than the regular lunch combinations to take real advantage of the chef’s talent.!
All other issues with this restaurant aside, I think one issue sums it up perfectly. I ordered pork chow mein and asked for soft noodles (side note: I have little respect for ANY Chinese restaurant that serves crispy noodles as a default for chow mein), and was told there would be an extra 50 cent charge. When they brought them out to me, what I got was noodles, but I had to find them underneath a mass of gelatinous goo with far too much celery, and cold bits of chopped up barbecued pork. One of the worst meals of my life. Not going back. Ever.
Had a 3hr layover at the Spokane airport. Paid a $30 cab fare just to get food here. Been a customer for over 10 years.
Wonderful food. My favorite chinese food around! Great service too.
Pretty simple and okay. Big portions. mostly non-asian staff. like a lot of other san fran style chinese places around here. not too expensive either
Old people chinese food. About a half step above la choy. the kind of chinese place you take your grandma to. get ready to have everything with corn starch in it. even the soup.
