Formula Mexican is OK but too slow. We have gone here several times for a quick fix of standard American Mex formula food. Usually it is cordial and friendly with quick service and OK food. Last night the service slipped. Although they were not busy the waitstaff couldn’t get their act together. We could not get our order placed until we asked the host, then they got the orders wrong . This was unusual and we hope an isolated incident. We were annoyed since at least three servers were ignoring customers and watching a soccer game on TV.Our dinners were adequate and based on previous good visits we will returnReturned twice in 2013 and left before being served the second time after being ignored by two servers while people around us got their dinners. The first time our server got our order wrong and service was too slow. Too bad, strike three.
Great!. I don’t know what these other reviewers are talking about. I moved here from Southern California where you get REALLY good mexican food, is this is pretty up there. The mole is amazing, the best on the menu if you ask me. enchiladas are good, pretty much everything I have had there is great. The service is always amazing, we get new drinks and chips as soon as they get low. Since I don’t eat seafood I can’t comment on that, but the food here is GREAT! And on a side note, check the back of your Safeway receipt. You get a coupon for buy one meal, get one free. Makes it that much better!
I have to add that the first review of this restaurant Is completely off. This is an order at the counter style place with no bar. I’m sure that they got this place mixed up with another restaurant. Maybe theyspend a little too much time at said bar.18 Nov, 2010Stopped in here on out day trip to the island. My dad loved this place. He’s kind of a cantankerous old coot but the charming counterhelp won him over. Great chili rellenos and tortilla soup. Excellent service ( I was a waitress for 20 years. I’m kind of picky about service). Al in all great food tucked into a shopping center b
The quality isn’t there. We have tried this restaurant many times and we’ve finally given up. I wish it were better but it’s not.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant on bainbridge. The food is fantastic, the staff is extremely nice, and they are very kid friendly. They always remember me and what I’m doing and talk to me when I come in. I love this place.
Stinks. Service: 0/5 – I have NEVER had good service at this restaurant. I don’t get drink refills, I don’t get timely service, I don’t get a helpful waiter.. all in all their service SUCKS. I really am furious about how poorly I am treated each time I go in there. Also dear waiter/waitress if you don’t understand what I ordered… don’t pretend like you did and make up something in your head and serve me the wrong dish, thanks!Menu: 2/5 – Wide variety of selections but stay away from anything with seafood… never really that fresh, I’d be safe to say they use frozen shrimp in most of the shrimp dishes. Most of the menu isn’t very good. They do have beef tongue which is not all that common for Mexican restaurants in Washington… so the variety isn’t bad but scratch any seafood off your possible selectionsFood: 1/5 – Pretty bad.. I think it used to be quite a bit better. Their salsa is pretty bland and watery. The chips are usually cold and the meat selection (chicken, beef and pork) is pretty bad. I wouldn’t recommend the mexican food here to anyone. The only reason I ever go back is because it is by the movie theater.Overall: 1/5 – Don’t even waste your time here. If you Mexican food at the same price/quality go to Isla Bonita. Everything they offer is better but don’t expect too much. San Carlos is the best Mexican food on the island but for a price. Final Words: This restaurant’s weakest link is the non-existence service and without it… well you won’t enjoy much else. Even the bartending is pretty bad and that to me has always been a pretty critical part of a Mexican restaurant.
