I don’t know what it is. I simply have never had a good cup of coffee here. That IS what they ate known for, right?

An A for Effort, C+ for Execution. We really liked the setting and service, and especially the fact that this cafe near the water uses a lot of local ingredients and takes a few risks with its food and specials. Some of the risks, however, didn’t pan out.The Garden Green Hummus was fresh, but light almost to the point of bland. The special Fennel/Apple/Salmon soup was terrific, probably the best thing we ate. The nicely spiced lamb gyro was almost torpedoed by an oddly gummy tzatziki sauce, but once that was removed it was very tasty. And my wife liked her three-cheese sandwich, but that was fairly risk-free. I’d visit again and try to focus more on the interesting selection of specials.

Oh yeah.. And they’re open late Wednesday thru sunday and have live music Friday and Saturday.19 Aug, 2010They have a down to earth but interesting menu. They feature different meals, pasta, and homemade soup and stew everyday. Their sandwiches are just good, but everything else is excellent. It all tastes homemade and fresh, and the coffee is good too. I love the remodel and the outdoor seating, and would say the service isn’t actually the greatest, but the food us so good I don’t care.
