Every time we dine at Ballard Annex we have an enjoyable experience. They have an amazing happy hour and the staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. This is our go-to seafood place when we have friends visiting from out of town. Theres something for everyone.
Arguably one of the best happy hours in the city, Ballard Annex has an amazing menu. The oysters are always fresh and I can eat quite a few orders of steamed clams and mussels. That white wine butter sauce is addicting.
A bit pricey, but the food was good. I was craving shellfish, and Willy’s bucket of clams, muscles & oysters hit the spot. Their meat plate was also delicious (but unsure if it was worth $20). The service was quick, but not overly friendly. I’m Canadian, and I enjoy a good alcoholic Caesar… I had to get out of my seat and go to the bar to add tabasco and a lime (Americans don’t understand a real Caesar). Overall, it was an above average experience, but would only return it we couldn’t get seats at the Walrus and the Carpenter.
Now higher price for less quality. The lobster roll was $40+ and mostly bread roll and almost nothing but a little tasteless dry lobster meat on it. One of our former favorite places is now crossed off our list. What happened to that great lobster roll for @ $20? Definitely will not be bragging up this place any more.
Amazing oysters. Chowder had nuances of lobster bisque. Salmon was tad dry. Fish and chips were way too oily, as if they were fried at too low a temp. Lemon tart was nice and tart and not too sweet. Cheesecake was like biting into a block of philly cream cheese from the grocery store. Yummy draft beer, check. Bloody Mary w/ decent heat, check. Hottie-petottie servers, check and double check.
Just stopped in here for a quick lunch with my boyfriends parents- we had some oysters, chowder, a halibut po boy and an order of bouillabaisse- our waitress was wonderful and the food hit the spot. Plus the interior of the restaurant is really cool. I would highly recommend this place!
We were seated for 10 minutes before anyone took the order. At 20 minutes we had not received anything, so we left. Poor service and it seemed very expensive.
