Super pub food. Meatloaf, chicken wings, cheeseburger and fries were Goldy Locks Just Right. Chowder was left almost untouched. Put us off by being too gummy and thick (sat around simmering all day perhaps?) and had a hint of tarragon that didn’t work for our palates.

Fun. Old bar, food average at best but bartender/s are always friendly.

Saturday morning is not the time to go if you’re in a hurry, but the biscuits and gravy are worth the wait. Great ambience, feels like an old English pub. 🙂 makes me slightly homesick..09 May, 2012Biscuits & Gravy. Went in here for the first time on Sunday, and had a fabulous plate of biscuits and gravy, and ran into an old friend in there too! Perfect fried eggs. I am fussy about my fried eggs. Great service, and I like the old English Pub feel. My bf had amazing French Toast! Huge plate piled high with light and fluffy bread, without too much cinnamon on it. It was too much food.. I had to have a bite, even after the biscuits and gravy.

Fun. I am 25 and I love hatties. Not a fan of their sweet potato fries but their poutine and meatloaf is great. The happy hour is the best as well!

Old Dependable Hattie…. I’ve never heard Hattie’s Hat recommended by anyone under 40, or anyone who has been in Ballard for less than 10 years. The New Ballard crowd likes Portage Bay, Hi-Life, etc…the new, sustainable breakfast places with twice the decor but half the character. At the advice of a Ballard lifer now in her 60s, I trickled into Hattie’s last Sunday for one of the best breakfasts of my life. Healthy? Well, in comparison to my Saturday night, absolutely. The Chang’s Migas had a delightful crunch to accompany the excellent eggs that were full of veggies. The beans were ok, and the Bloody supreme.I can’t say it enough–the character of this place makes it worth my business on a regular basis. Wait…should I change my recommendation to keep the locals’ secret?

Lovely dive bar!. I always have fun every time I go here with friends! Yes, it is dark, crowded, and slightly dingy, but I am not exactly a pretentious snob so I don’t care. I fell in love with the sweet potato fries, the meatloaf is great, and the drinks are awesome.
