Excellent lunch buffet for $9. Fresh, crisp naan, delicious mixed pickles. Had a wonderful dish with eggplant and chicken that was on a wok across from the buffet. Those items must rotate daily or weekly. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.
Above Average Indian Food. Came here for dinner and really enjoyed their food. Their service was very good too. The parking can be a little tough like all restaurants in the heart of Ballard.Overall it will be one of my go to Indian cuisine restaurants in Ballard.
Oh HELL no!. Our visit started off with the rudest waitress I’ve ever seen. My daughter begged to leave before ordering but I was hungry. The buffet looked really old and dried out so we ordered from the menu. We each ordered a different item so we could all try them. Everything was incredibly bland. All three dishes were basically a bowl of sauce with a couple of tiny items floating. It didn’t come with Naan so we ordered two pieces. It came out in a giant chunk. I had to ask to have it cut into pieces. We’re talking about a piece larger than a dinner plate. It was good but didn’t come out until we were done with our meals. My daughter had a mango juice. It was water with some stale tasting juice added. Three meals cost $66.
Steep decline in quality – incompetent food. This is a review of the buffet, not their sit-down food:I used to have the lunch buffet here years ago, but ate here recently. The heated food bins sat un-replenished, badly needing a little moisture – or at least a stir! You know when buffet food is starting to turn hard and crusty around the edges? Now imagine a coat of lacquer and a blow torch to liven up the visual. The one positive: they were OUT of almost everything. They didn’t even serve a daal dish (to the obvious dismay of some Indian people sitting next to us) – worse, their rice was crunchy enough to make my teeth hurt. How is that even possible? They were out of most meat and protein dishes – wee! The one vegetable dish that remained was an inedible melange of wet, limp cabbage and two lonely cauliflower florets…it was overly salty, which probably magnified the repugnant vinegar and molten-hot throat heat. Yeesh, no wonder it sat untouched.Diners were quite literally scraping the bottom of metal bins to get the last bit of flavor or sauce onto their plates….SOMETHING to put on top of their stick-stiff rice.
I have a high tolerance for saltiness, but India Bistro’s lunch buffet was insanely, nearly inedibly salty. And how do you mess up chai? They found a way – powdered, grainy, spice-less and too sweet. I should have never strayed from Bengal Tiger.
Freakin’ UNREAL.. This place is… WOW. I mean, REAL Indian cuisine and awesome service. Really good sized portions and a nice casual atmosphere. 5 stars for sure.
Navratan korma!. It has been a while since I’ve lived in Ballard and been a regular here, but went recently and it was every bit as good as I remembered it. Great for vegetarians, great for non-veggies too. Saag paneer is another favorite, as well as the veggie pakoras.
