Wonderful ambiance, service and amazing pasta! Love this restaurant. It went far beyond what I had hoped for.
This is one of our FAVS… are you people nutz?!. Incredible place — one of our favs. Not sure what all the complaining is about?! Who are these uptight people with their intense criticism. We’re happy you are her Picolinos and happy its in our Ballard hood! We visit with our dog to your cafe for weekend coffee and pastries, your HH on some weeknights, and dinner / brunch on special occasions. This is the place we bring our families when they visit from out of town. We love this place! There’s a lot of heart that goes into this place. While I see reviews of a poor host or server or someone, and know that can ruin someone’s entire experience, we’ve been fortunate never to have that experience…. and trust me, we are as casual as they get when we show up in our flannels and jeans.. Ha! I never write reviews, but we just ADORE this place. But hey, those who don’t — stay away, no need to make the reservation list longer 🙂
Disappointed. We had been wanting to come to this restaurant for a while, as we made our way around our neighborhood to different spots. The first time, we were quite impressed with the service and ambiance, but received a text that our teenager was cooking us dinner at home as a surprise, and left after the salad. We finally made it back. Again, wonderful ambiance. That is what they are good at for sure. The service was alright, although they forgot to bring our wine, and we had to remind them. The food was absolutely flavorless. I had the chicken marsala, which had NO FLAVOR whatsoever. It was slightly overcooked and rubbery. My husband had gamberi panada, also flavorless. We were quite surprised at how bad the food was compared to the effort they put into the whole experience. We thought we would try dessert, cannoli, which was more like an experience from Safeway than Italy. We left more food than we ate, and it was a $100 dinner experience. With so many GREAT food venues in the area, we will not be back, or recommend this to any of our friends.
Delicious and Authentic. Picolinos does it just right. The staff are friendly and charming and everybody is always smiling & accomodating… The ambience is romantic & fun and they have great live music friday & saturdays. The food is superb and the gnocci melts in your mouth… the clam pasta is equally as delicious. The arugula & caprese salad are two of our faves on the menu, & fantastic pizzas.. the Funghi is great if you are a mushroom lover. Generous portions on everything.. which makes for a great late night snack! Solid wine list and fantastic menu. It is always such a pleasure to see Joseph and Michelle… so personable and fun to talk to. And equally as wonderful to catch Pasquale playing violin in the garden or one of the dining rooms… We brought a group of friends here a few weeks back, and everyone is sold on this place. Picolinos is a hit!
This place is fantastic. It’s charm comes from its authenticity; the food, the staff and the ambiance are all sincere and authentic, you won’t be disappointed.
I admit we did not dress for a fancy dinner, but we were neat and clean–we were just running in for happy hour. The guy I took to be the maitre d’, was not welcoming and informed us, with uncalled-for sternness, that we were only allowed to sit at the bar. While the food was good (salads were tasty, gnocchi were a little raw-doughy, chicken bites a bit over-cooked) and the bartender friendly, the snooty reception makes us think twice about dropping in again, even though the restaurant is within walking distance.
