Fun Time and Good Tapas Here. I had a great experience eating at Root Table. I had no plan on eating here but I saw a sign that said silkworms tapas special so I had to stop in. For people worried this was the only insect based dish and for those that want to try they were the perfect nutty topping to a salad. As for the other tapas the selection was perfect I tried three other appetizers and they were great. the muscles with sauce and juice was a great snack. The corn fritters we’re packed full of corn which you rarely see and the dipping sauce added the right amount of spice and heat. I also had some yakisorba which wasn’t the best thing I had but I was happy eating it. Truly a fantastic happy hour restaurant that just needs a few more people.

Great food!. I went to the Root Table with low expectations. The decor is unique – chairs are stumps or made from roots. The tables have live edges, but also are oddly shaped and are not particularly comfortable.The main dining area is depressed, while the kitchen is elevated. I think I might have switched the two. Who wants to sit in a sunken room?We stood around for a few minutes before anyone approached us. This was despite the fact that there were five cooks and two servers. I think this place would benefit from a friendly manager or hostess to greet people and set the mood.The food came amazingly fast. I think three minutes elapsed from the order to the first dish. I appreciate prompt service, but it was almost jarring.The best part of the meal was the food. It was tasty, well-balanced, and complex. Spicy, too!Going in, I did not understand that this is an upscale Thai restaurant. I do now. I’d go back.
Good, fresh food… cute atmosphere. We love going to Root Table! The food always tastes fresh and lovingly prepared, the root fries are my favorite. The selection isn’t as large as some other local Thai places, but very adequate. The resturant is small, but feels cozy, not crowded and the wait staff is very attentive. One of my Top 5 places to go in Ballard.
Went last weekend, 20 minsbefore closing (ok it was almost 15mins). But BEFORE closing and they wouldn’t take us in because kitten was closed !! Mayb they should change their hours? Or fire that person…
