Too Cool For School. Shelter Lounge is a sleek place. It’s pretty from the inside out. I really enjoy the deck seating when it’s open and the location is cool in itself. The food was good, nice menu. Portions were not large but they were still fun to share. I had the Avocado fries – great choice on my part! I’m looking forward to warm weather and a Happy Hour (or several) here… Seattle weather this year has been good.. maybe I’ll have my chance before July to accomplish this 🙂
I used to love this place. Especially the $5 happy hour on Sundays. Ahi crisps to die for! I came back after a few months of traveling and man has it gone down hill. The food is inferior, the staff inattentive, and prices jacked. The ahi that I was so looking forward to tasted like week old canned tuna. I don’t know what happened, new management maybe, but a very disappointing experience.
Packed With Flavor. This is more than a lounge, it’s a legitimate restaurant with outdoor seating on sunny days! Shelter lounge has the best Cuban sandwich around town. My husband always orders the signature sandwich, but i really haven’t had a single disappointing dish. The Ahi taco appetizer is balanced, just like their cucumber jalapeno margarita. Their flavors are bold and their fries are shoestring-scrumptious. This is a must-try spot.
Enjoyed my first Happy Hour here! Can’t wait to get back.
Try the Ahi tuna appetizer! Avocado fries are unique~ sandwich huge, split between 3 people!! Good eating.
It’s ok…waiting for summer. I’ve been to the Shelter three times now. The first, was on a friday night when it was below freezing. Too many people tried to cram into the small space, and it was awkward. The second was a Sunday afternoon during football, and half the tables were filled. We had sandwiches, and found the signature sandwich to be pretty good, with good fries. (Avoid the avocado fries..5 tiny wedges of avocado, deep fried, for $5)The third was a Saturday afternoon, where the staff kept raising the garage doors to go in and out of the outer bar. It was freezing. The mechanics of the door between the outside and inside bars is just terrible design. They need a man door, or their customers will freeze. We were virtually the only people there though so that was nice.I think this place will be much better in the summer when we can take advantage of their spacious deck and warm weather.
