To all you dicks. This pub . Is the most welcome bar I have ever been too. I travel alot and am such rarely in town .Staff remembers me on a first name basis.Knows my menu choices.Yes they are busy . Yes there human .The owners John and deb are some of the nicest most caring people you will meet .Not just for customers , but for there exceptional staff. If you hate this place , you might as well hate kittens and puppy’s .This place is thee standard to set all Seattle bars.

Spotty service. My friends rave about this offspring of the George and Dragon, but… had to ask a server to get waited on and then had prompt service, giving me the sense that they hurry up and acknowledge customers only when asked to do so. Food was good, prices okay, nice atmosphere, but not organized or well-managed–no one seemed to keep an eye on staff or the floor. needs a major overhaul of attitude if it wants to keep customers in competitive Ballard.
Again … RUDE service (no service). Wait person keep us waiting at bar without even indicated that she noticed us. Female (behind the bar) wait person poured herself a drink, glaced generally in our direction, turned around and ignored us (and a few others at the bar). NEVER again. Obviously does need my business that’s for sure and that was very obvious to all of us. I should have called the manager or owner later. We were not drunk or demanding but were not invisible and you’d never have know that from our long wait and zero service.Poor customer service by all behind the bar. They just COULD not be bothered. Our party of four — after waiting politely to receive normal service, just ended up leaving and spending our currency somewhere else.Good luck with this apparently snobbish and uninterested staff.
We liked our food, (although my shepherd’s pie could have been hotter, it tasted great.) The service was great – the young woman from Newcastle was attentive and friendly. I would go back.
Forget it. Cannot thing of any other bar (maybe besides George and Dragon) that has such slow service and dickhead bartenders. Save the attitude for the hipsters who don’t care how they are treated, I’ll take my business elsewhere, or just watch the game at home or the hundreds of other bars that have Fox Soccer Channel, Setanta, Espn; etc.
Pity the Poor English in Ballard. England in the 60s or 70s was well known among traveling Americans for its food: it was bad. Happily, my visits since the 90s have all been filled with excellent food, from London to Scotland. Sadly, a visit to The Market Arms is like a trip back to England of the 60s.The Market Arms has a lovely oak lined interior that is spacious enough so that you don’t begrudge the space taken up by the pool table in the back. We ordered a caprese salad and tandoori chicken wrap (sans fries). After waiting an intolerably long time, they finally arrived, complete with fries (I hope the fries weren’t what took so long!). While you’d be hard pressed to find a better time of year to eat really good tomatoes, the caprese salad contained a prime example of a flavorless, mealy tomato. Interspersed with the tomato were slices of mozzarella cheese. The cheese was not fresh mozzarella, but bland packaged cheese. As for the tandoori chicken wrap, the only resemblance to tandoori chicken was it’s salmonish color. Certainly it wasn’t the mayonnaise. All in all, bad food and poor service at an understandably cheap price. It’s a shame, they could do something nice in this space–and maybe they’ll get it figured out before it’s too late.
