Do Not Waist Your Time. This is such an under average restaurant. Service sucks. Food Sucks. Oh and Way over priced. I’ve eaten all over the world at many excellent restaurants but this one is not one. Oh and the owners are inexperienced and never correct the problems. I’ve read many horrible reviews on this place. I’ve given it 4 times and every time I want my money back.

Good food and service with a couple of caveats. I was in downtown Ballard on a cold, drizzly Saturday. I walked into the Sexton and was immediately greeted warmly and took a table in the back of the restaurant. I was there during Happy Hour and I ordered 3 items off the menu.1) Sexton Mac-Really excellent! Served piping hot with a wonderful bacon roux and balsamic vinegar.2) Hamburger Sliders-The sliders could have been served warmer than they were. The buns were a little dry but not a deal breaker.3) Sage and cider BBQ ribs-The ribs came out lukewarm. One end of the ribs was warmed but the other end was almost cold. Disappointing. I really liked the cider bbq sauce on the ribs. It was sweet and a little smoky.I washed everything down with some Manny’s Pale ale. My table at the back of the Sexton was great, until the heater came on and it got really uncomfortable very quickly. The food came out quickly but two of my dishes could have been served warmer for my taste. I would go back to The Sexton.(Pictures are posted of this visit to The Sexton.)

Service was great; and menu looked interesting, but food was just so-so.

Southern Food and Great Drinks. What isn’t their to love about The Sexton? They have an awesome bar (staff and physically) ( it’s got cassetts in it!) and some good grub. My favorite is the fried brussel sprouts the sweet potato fries and the fried green tomatoes ( when they had them) are also awesome! Make sure to have one of their Cocktails! The Lash and Steel is my favorite but the whole cocktail menu rocks! This is one of my favorite places to drink in Ballard.

Fried Brussel Sprouts. Seriously, that’s all you need to know!

Burned puppies. I went for Happy Hour and found that while the pricing seemed reasonable it was expensive for a happy hour and our bill, with tax and tip, was $60 for two drinks and four small plates. Additionally our hush puppies were burned which was disappointing. Other than that the food itself was good it was just not somewhere I would go back to.

I really, really want to like this place, but…. …we’ve been here 3 times. The first time we were sold – most amazing sliders ever! Next time, we got seated and barely got waited on. To the point that our entire party paid cash and left. Last time we went, the food was inconsistent, partially cold and disappointing. How could you fall so far so fast?
