Great ambiance! You would never expect this when you walk in. We were the only non-Indian in restaurant. I thought that was a good sign. Getting someone to take our order took forever. I was frustrated. Food was worth the wait! I asked for mild and I’m sweating. Spicy!
I got Mutton Sukka Varuval TOGO ($ 14.20) . On reaching home i found that there was no salt in the dish. Also the spices were not marinated in the meat. I called up the restaurant and complained about this.Without any concern that they have made a bad dish, the person who attended the call asked me to add salt and adjust. He asked me to come in next day so that he will resolve the issue.I went in next day and brought up the issue. The person who attended the call and another person spoke to me. The guy again irresponsibly said that i could have added salt. When asked if they are going to refund me for the dish, they mentioned they will not. Even when i said that they are losing customer trust they paid no attention to the complaint.I am never going again to this restaurant. It has the worst customer service.
awesome food 🙂 good ambience…good place to hang out with family & friends…….i like pepper chicken & fish finger the most……
I have visited anjappar manytimes. One of the main reason is the lack of good chettinad food in Seattle. We do have a lot of Indian restaurants but none of them provide good spicy chettinad food. Anjappar has some specialities which is also not available in other places in this area like the kothuparotta, ceylon parrota etc. which are popular street foods in tamil nadu.Recently they have added Buffet option for lunch which is a not a large spread, but provides selections Chettinad style food items from India which you won’t find in any other India buffet. Do not expect your Chicken Tikka masala or Butter chicken here, but expect Chettinad Chicken, Kara kozhambu etc here. This place also has a party hall with banquets. I used their banquet facility for my marriage reception in Seattle and it worked out as a good option with reasonable cost. The service during the banquet was definitely good. Now coming to the cons and the problems with this place. The biggest problem was service time. They used to take a long time to take order and deliver food to table. Sometimes the spice level is too high and not palatable for all taste preferences. In my recent visit last week they had put some new and young waiters and they were super attentive and delivered food very quickly. So seems like they are fixing this, but pretty late and many folks have shifted to other options. Cleanliness I would rate above average but not bad. They have improved, overall a lot of potential with authentic chettinad food selection makes it different from the regular Indian cuisine available in Seattle. They should try to fix soon and bring more sales now before big players from India open shop here.
I like the fact about this restaurant they have not sacrificed the authenticity to make it sell more to non-Indians, instead their food is as authentic Chennai food as it can get!. They can be really spicy unless you tell them otherwise, but if you can handle spicy this is a great place to be in. Service can definitely be improved, I do see them putting more and more effort. Some of my favs are mutton biryani, mixed fried rice, Karaikudi chicken, mutton uppukari.
Very authentic South Indian food. It transports you to Chennai. Crispy dosas, fresh chutneys and quick service. I tried one of their soups and I immediately loved the place. The blend of spices tells you right away that you are in the right place. It might be little spicy but what is south Indian food without a dash of black pepper and red chilli flakes.Highly recommended if you are looking for South Indian food -specially dosas.
Food is authentic. Good for ToGo. Not a great dining experience.
