Best sushi and nigiri in Bellevue. Small space and limited parking, get there early unless youre a regular though. Sake selection is above average but its not Tokyo. Flo is your only other comparable choice in the area, but Ginza has a much more interesting selection.

Quality fish makes all the difference! We enjoyed the real crab California roll, spicy tuna roll, negi hamachi roll (my favorite), and kanihama roll. They bring warm washcloths for your hands before the meal. Nice wait staff.

We used to eat at this restaurant once every 2 weeks. The sushi chef had personality, the fish was very fresh, and they had inventive nigiri and sashimi. There has been a high turnover of sushi chefs and the quality has gone downhill fast. The sushi chef hates his job and lets you know it. No eye contact or conversation and starts to close his counter at 8pm even though the restaurant is packed and open until 10:30. He takes the fish off of the plates and literally throws it on the case shelf. Is that hygienic, don’t think the case shelf was meant to have fish on it. Really don’t want to order fish from a chef washing dishes. The roll chef makes very sloppy rolls and his knife is so dull he has to saw through the roll when he cuts. The fish is no longer fresh but mushy. The scallions were olive colored instead of bright green. There is no variety of fish or inventiveness in what they do have.I feel bad for visitors who eat here. Go to Nishino, Shiro’s or Kashiba. You can order very good nigiri and sashimi at Japonessa. Thank goodness one is opening in Bellevue in August under sushi chef Masa-san.
