Gross food. The WORST! I ate one bite of my chicken and had to stop, it was so dry (and flavorless). Then I ate a bite of my daughters Mongolian beef and it was like papery jerky, like rehydrated meat with white speckles (preservative?). The owner was horrible and told me she would call the police if I didn’t pay for it. Another customer got up and walked out at the same time because it was so bad, I’ve never seen anything like that. Bad food, bad owner – NOT a place I recommend or will ever go to again. This place is right across from the Fred Meyer gas pumps.
Poor service. Honestly worst food and service I have ever received. When my friend and I walked into the restaurant the tables were not clean, containing food particles from other customers. The waitress we had was unaware of my friend and I and our order. The food was extremely disappointing and a tad over priced. The owner of the restaurant was very rude and extremely unprofessional.
We have been coming to the Black Pearl since they first opened and look forward to our next visit every time. The owners are a delight and we are very pleased with the great success they have found with these restaurants, which is well deserved. First, the decor is very tastefully done with beautiful stonework and very modern bathrooms that are kept very tidy. Secondly, the service is top notch and the owner is a very friendly outgoing gal who really goes out of her way to accommodate any of your needs and pays special attention to detail. Third..and most importantly the FOOD is amazing! I live in Vancouver and have tried all types of Asian cuisine and my family and I agree that this is one of the best restaurants we have been to. The food is so fresh with all types of choices to accommodate anyone. I had the pad thai, which was the best I have ever had and I’ve tried it all over the world! We also tried the pho, coconut shrimp, teriyaki chicken with brown rice and GF crispy orange chicken that my son can’t stop raving about. They have a wonderful drink list and we will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone we know.
The Black Pearl is one of my favorite places to dine in Bellingham. They have so many great menu items to choose from not to mention they have a ton of healthy choices as well. I love to get their teriyaki dragon bowl and a Taro milkshake! My coworkers all agree that this place is a must try! Also the family that owns the business is so sweet and helpful. Go here to get good food and great service!
Just Disappointing. I’ll start w/ the fact that I’ve had very very good food from Black Pearl, both locations. It was a family favorite & when we did take out, it was usually a $70 order. What killed it was the owner’s attitude and poor service. They make the big turn off mistake, a trend of sm businesses, to have their ‘office’ out in full view on a customer table. There’s papers, bags, coats, debris from eating and an open laptop–very unprofessional. They conduct phone calls & employee business in full view. How can they be blind to how inappropriate that is? They treat their staff like possessions they own–you can feel their eyes lay on the entire enterprise w/ dollar signs….again, don’t know how to keep the veil in place for the sake of at least pretending to provide hospitality to their customers. I had an owner touching me while at my table, on the 3rd invasion, I actually had to shrug her off. On another occasion she confronted me when I got offended by talking too long to their sweet, new watron. Informed she works by the hr and they needed her to get her work done. Very embarrassing. Woman followed me OUT of the restaurant, stopping service to an incoming customer, to take me to task again! Unbelieveable. We stopped going to the restaurant after that. Months later I relented to a request by my sick son for teriyaki and stopped into the downtown location to get something to go. Posted hours said they should be open but in middle of lunch on a weekday, not a soul in site. Knew then I was foolish to even consider spending money there-it’s that good food we’d had that talked me into giving in to my son’s request. He and his gf don’t even want to got here anymore, my mom won’t, and co workers I’d recommended the place to complained they’d had problems and felt the same revolution to the owner attitude. It’s too bad, because they have good locations and have worked hard to have good food. Maybe inferior Americans don’t measure up and aren’t worthy appropriate respect you’d expect from a restaurateur? Disappointing. Bellingham needs good, local choices.
Terrible Service. The woman behind the counter spoke absolutely no english, she couldn’t open the register because she didnt know how, also could not charge a visa card. I ordered a simple drink and she left out 2 of the 3 ingredients likely because she didn’t speak english, and had to make a phone call to ask how to use the blender. I am absolutely dissatisfied with my experience there. The portion sizes are terrible as well although they charge as if it were a full plate.
Very Medicare. When I think fusion, I think of hybrid food, not a place that sells various Chinese, thai, Vietnamese dishes. If u want thai, go to thai place, etc. I tried the yellow curry, it had very little flavor but the salad was good.
