I deleted my previous review of this place because the menu is now completely different. It started out as a pseudo high end Italian restaurant which was not competitive with the best Italian joints in town and was in a completely inappropriate location for a fine dining establishment (right next to the Regal Barkley Village Cinema). Care for a hundred dollar bottle of wine with your Pollo Parmesan or Rigatoni Alforno after watching the latest Star Wars movie? I think not. Ultimately, they wised up and introduced a lower priced menu with burgers, steaks, pasta, pizza, even a little Mexican. We decided to give the new menu a try, even though I was skeptical, because its owned by the same guy that owns the three Jalapenos restaurants in Bellingham, which dont impress me at all. In short, its not bad, and warrants further exploration. We started out with the Personal Nachos, with cheddar cheese, pulled pork, jalapeos, tomatoes, green onions, black olives, sour cream, and an avocado cilantro cream sauce. They were good, except for the use of pickled jalapeos, which dominated the taste. Fresh jalapeos would have made this dish much better. They served Prime Rib on Thursday nights, and my wife ordered it medium rare. Thats exactly how it arrived and it too was good, although not among the best shes had. Her loaded backed potato was huge and lacked much butter but was otherwise fine. I ordered the Ribeye Steak medium rare with green peppercorn sauce. Again, it was cooked perfectly and was pretty good. I doubt that it was USDA prime, but it was still tasty. The sauce could have been more intense, but it did enhance the steak. My scalloped potatoes on the side were just okay. So, our first look at the new menu suggests that its a good place to explore. Its not really fine dining, but the food is priced appropriately and there is enough variety on the menu to satisfy most diners.
