Good Thai, not reliable on spice level. This is our friend’s favorite Thai restaurant in the area, so we met them here. Our friends had pad thai, orange chicken and 3-star panang curry. We had emperor’s cashew and panang curry, both 2-star. The 3-star was more like 2-star and the 2-star was more like 1-star. Our friends said the spiciness level changes each time they come, Other than the spice level, the food was very good. Service was good, but we were surprised to not be asked about dessert.
Good food but really really bad service!!! Management needs to read this!. So let me say the food is good here and the variety of tea too. But my friend and I eat here once a month for our get together just for the food and tea. We’ve had a variety of servers who have been there a long time. All have bad attitudes! They cannot get us out of the restaurant fast enough! We always order an appy and right after the server brings it + a mini salad then our dinner is delivered! WTF?! Here are some basics of serving….Appy/Soup/Salad first…Clear plates and bring main meal! Then right after our main meal is delivered they drop off the check! But don’t pay right away or they will never check back to see if you need anything! We always go to this location too so I don’t have it confused with their other location. We also stay 2 hours when we go too. Now we’ve found a new restaurant to go to. Didn’t have to be this way! Management needs to get rid of bad servers. Never had a good server their once! Why are they so un-happy and trying to rush the customers?
Could not believe it!!!!. Recently I had the unpleasant experience of eating at this establishment. I had better Thai food in Moscow and Ankara. What a joke! The food servers are nice students, they keep on apologizing for the bad service and complaining about the owners. The food is greasy and the taste is hidden with too much lemongrass.25 Nov, 2012Could not believe it!!!!. Recently I had the unpleasant experience of eating at this establishment. Im Heading To Busara. Weve been to two of the three On Rice restaurants three or four times, but not in the last two years. We werent very impressed (see my review of the Harris Street location). So we decided to give it another try. Were still disappointed. We started with the fried calamari appetizer and an order of Fresh Rolls (steamed wraps with vegetables and a couple of shrimp). The calamari was well seasoned and tasty, but the dipping sauce was too sweet. The Fresh Rolls were okay, but they were served with a very heavy hoisin sauce which totally overwhelmed the delicate rolls. For entres, I had the massaman curry with calamari and prawns. I ordered it at a 4 out of 4 heat level. My wife had the tom kha soup with tofu, ordered medium hot. My dish had a good flavor but no heat at all. My wifes dish was considerably spicier than mine, even though it should have been the other way around. Worse, the potatoes and onions in my dish were undercooked. In fact, the potatoes were so underdone that it was hard to cut them with a fork. The onions were crunchy (my wifes onions were similarly undercooked). On the positive side, the calamari was cooked properly and with the exception of the potatoes and onions, which I didnt touch, I ate the whole thing, and my wife, with the exception of the onions, liked her dish.To their credit, they comped our bill 20% to make up for the problems. However, I cant see myself going back. There are several good Thai restaurants in Bellingham, my favorite being Busara Thai Cuisine. Thats where Im heading the next time a Thai food craving hits me.
Very poor customer service. Won’t honor their discount coupon. Manager doesn’t understand customer goodwill and therefore lost a good customer. Food is just okay but we liked the atmosphere and wanted to support a local eatery.
Had a great visit 1.5-67 year old friendly.. We went to On Rice for my dear Father in Law’s 67th belated birthday celebration. Our 1.5 and 3.5 year old were warmly welcomed. We all enjoyed our drinks, but our spice levels on our dishes varied greatly. My 4 star drunken noodle was awesome! Heated perfectly. However, my husband’s seafood dish -ordered 4 star was hardly heated at all. Overall, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Thank you for your great service for the whole family!
Overrated food, nice place. The restaurant is well laid out but the food is overrated. I have eaten there several times at different times of the day and the service is okay, but when they are busy they are understaffed and don’t get back to you in a timely manner. Last time we eat there we started with the shrimp rolls. One little shrimp cut into half and each half was stuck on the outside of the roll. You would think there is more shrimp. NO, what you get is mostly shredded iceberg lettuce stuffed in the roll with no more shrimp to be found. 3 rolls, 3 little lonely shrimp for $9.00, come on, pull those rolls apart, look for yourself. The main dish had rice and sauce, barely any veggies and meat. How far can you stretch a chicken breast? The salad, well if I order salad, I want some real greens, don’t give me the iceberg lettuce stuff. For better food, value and service I recommend the Thai House on Meridian St.
