Had breakfast here this AM. It was awesome, staff was nice, attentive and quick. The restaurant was featured on diners, drive-ins and Dives. I had the Steak and Egg today as well as the oatmeal. Delish.
Wonderful staff and high quality breakfast food. I’ve had the banana pecan waffles, wolf pack, and breakfast burrito and haven’t been disappointed yet. So good! I will continue to go back.
I agree with David the expert. Will not return. Bacon was greasy, the over easy eggs looked like they were cooked on an unclean griddle.Jamie was very pleasant. The waitress was unsure about the menu and how some dishes were prepared.
A Real DisappointmentOver Easy is a new place in town that only serves breakfast. Our first (and likely last) visit here was a real disappointment. My wife wanted to order the corned beef hash and eggs, but the waitress told us that when they made the hash today it came out so bad that they threw it out and are taking it off the menu. She ended up ordering the Over Easy- two eggs, bacon, spinach and toast. The spinach was piled on top of the toast, rendering it a soggy mess. The bacon was cut into pieces about an inch long. It was not at all crispy, because it had also been mixed in with the watery spinach. I had the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns. This was the worst chicken fried steak I have ever tasted. It was so tough that it was difficult to cut with a regular kitchen knife. I really needed a steak knife. The chef needs to take the short walk over to Home Skillet and taste their version of this dish (one of the best Ive ever tasted). My hash browns and eggs were about average, except that they were both severely under salted. There are many better places to get breakfast in Bellingham: Home Skillet, Daisy Caf, Old Town Caf, Mount Bakery, even IHOP come to mind. Heck, Id rather have a couple of Egg McMuffins than eat that chicken fried steak again. Edit 1/2/19After several years, I bit the bullet and went back. The corned beef hash was back on the menu, so I tried it. It was terrible. If you want a great hash, go to the Birch Door Cafe. I simply cannot understand the popularity of this restaurant, as measured on a couple of other very well known review sites. I guess getting on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives means a lot for sales.
Disgusted Diner. We thought we’d give the new restaurant a try – sorry mistake. The noise level is horrendous – the seating uncomfortable – and the service – well it is hard to rate it when there was almost no service. There is no ambiance – it is like eating in a warehouse. While we waited at Over Easy we had to listen to the owner (he proclaimed himself as the person who started these franchises) – he was dressed in sloppy shorts, a wrinkled t-shirt and dirty sneakers. He was talking to the people across from us – telling them how he was only using local items – but that the other restaurants in town, and he named Little Cheerful, Daisy Cafe, Rhode’s Cafe and Arliss’s – had no idea how to do cafe food or how to decorate their restaurants. He talked much too loudly and talked almost the entire time we were waiting – which was a long time. Very distracting and unprofessional. He said that in California they have a wine culture – but in Washington it is just a coffee culture – what does that even mean and why would he run down our area to local residents? The young man that came to our table kept making gang signs with his hands while talking to us – not cool dude. They write the orders on scraps of paper – and can’t get it right. We ordered simple – chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and an omellette and home fries. First – we waited for 45 minutes for our food and there were only people at 6 other tables. The table across from us was brought the wrong order twice in that 45 minute wait. Then the server came and told us that they were out of our choice of potatoes – it was 7:30 in the morning – how many potatoes do they have in the restaurant???? Another 30 minute wait and they bring the wrong order – plus the scrambled eggs were strewn on top of the gravy on the chicken fried steak.Instead of an omellette they brought a burrito – and no potatoes on the plate – after waiting for them. He said that I could eat my breakfast and they would redo the omellette – we asked how long that would take and he said about half an hour or so. No thanks – since they couldn’t get the order right we decided to leave. It is not a pleasant breakfast experience when one person eats and then you have to wait for the other person’s order to be redone – after twice getting it wrong. The water tasted like chlorine – they are obviously using city water and letting it sit for long periods in the glasses before serving it. If their water is that bad – how bad could their food be?We left and went to Arliss’s – where it was quiet and pleasant, as always – everyone was cheerful and we didn’t feel threatened by a server doing gang signs at our table. We ordered and the food was served piping hot and quickly – and was delicious – as usual. Arliss’s doesn’t have to worry about competition from this new restaurant , It was the worst restaurant I’ve ever been in – and I’ve been in a lot over the years. Don’t waste your time or money – go to a good local restaurant – might I suggest Arliss’s, Daisy Cafe, The Little Cheerful or Rhodes Cafe – all restaurants that were insulted while we waited in the loud, uncomfortable restaurant. We have plenty of great breakfast restaurants in Bellingham – we don’t need an uppity franchise coming in and being rude.
Great New Bellingham Breakfast Place. Great place to gather with friends and family for a tasty breakfast. Food variety was great ranging from healthy choices to the regular breakfast fare. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Prices were what I would expect. This will be a repeat location for us!!
New or Not…. Unfortunately, we feel that OverEasy did not describe their eggs at all. Hard as hard could be and not only was our order incorrect so was our bill at the end of our session there. A lot of small things that should of had some attention but did not. We were really hoping for another nice breakfast location in Bellingham but this one is not it as of yet. Who knows…maybe months from now…only time will tell.
