The Tecalitlan truck is my favorite taco truck in the county. I’m glad I was finally able to make it to their taqueria. Both are owned by the family of one of my former students. The menu is basically the truck menu, plus a few items. I got a pork burrito. It was delicious, flavorful as always. The hot sauce was very hot. I feel like the truck often has shredded cabbage in the burritos, but I might be mistaken. In any case, just meat, beans, rice, and a few jalapeos in this burrito, and they do it right. Truck convenient to work, taqueria convenient to home–Tecalitlan has me covered.

GREAT PLACES!!!!!. Been eating there food for years, since the Taco truck on Smith and Guide 15+ years! Food at the restaurant is equally as good if not just a tad bit better for the actual brick and mortar.WOULD ALWAYS RECOMMEND!!THANKS and see you tonight!

Best taco truck near the multiplex! ‘Course, it’s not a taco truck, but the limited menu is more like a truck’s selection. On my recent visit, after 4 p.m., half of the items were out, paper covering them just as david mentioned in his review two years ago! I was on the way to a movie, so I only had two chicken tacos, which were good; nice sauce, good amount of onion, cilantro, good texture and taste to the meat. Small tacos, no chips included, but a tasty quick snack before a flick. Don’t know if you could have a good dinner here, but for a quick bite, it’s the best Mexican in the Barkley/Sunset area.

Not Open: Thanks very much!!. The hours show open on Tuesday on this site, not open this Tuesday night. Great food, we know the trucks are closed on Tuesday but come on guys, My wife and kid drove across town to get the goods. I want to support your business but I can’t if you do not open your doors:((((One for each member of our family tonight. 5/7/13.

Bad food. Yesterday I thought I would give this place a try. We bought 2 burritos the rice was not cooked, it was crunchy my teenage boys didn’t ate them. The salsa was bland, no seasoning in the meat. You need to improve your menu if you really want to stay open.

Wait Until They Get Their Act Together. Taqueria Tecalitian is the restaurant version of Tacos Tecalitian, which has taco trucks in Bellingham, Mt. Vernon and Burlington. It looks like they are going to have an expanded menu at the restaurant, but for now their menu is quite limited. We stopped by for takeout the other day, and the results were not promising. I ordered the carne asada dinner with a cheek taco on the side. The beef was subpar, without much flavor, but the beans, pico de gallo and red sauce were really good. The rice was bland and too sticky for Mexican style rice. The cheek taco was okay, but all it consisted of was a small tortilla filled with cheek meat, a couple of slices of radish and a wedge of lime. My wife had the huevos rancheros. The eggs were perfectly cooked, but thats all the dish was. Fried eggs. It isnt huevos rancheros if the eggs arent on a tortilla and a sauce covers the whole thing. I guess you are supposed to assemble them yourself. She also had the same beans, rice and pico de gallo that I had and had similar opinions of them. This place has about twenty menu items up on the wall, but most of them are covered over. They are just getting started and could be good once they get their act together. I would wait a while before trying them out. However, they may need to reconsider their pricing. Our bill for this meal was $21, and we both were a little hungry afterwards (the servings of rice and beans were quite small). Thats a lot of money for a couple of pretty small Mexican dinners without drinks, appetizer, and the endless chips and salsa you get at other places. If I had to vote right now, I’d say ‘I don’t like it’, but I’ll wait six months or so and give it another try.
