I really want to love this place…. Prices are awesome… like $7 a plate. The dining area is fairly clean except for the fish tank full of algae. The menu is extremely overwhelming with like 500 different entrees. The biggest bummer for me is the food is all really, really bland. I hate to say it, but Panda Express across the street has better tasting food for the same price or less. I think Panda Palace has a lot of potential, if they’d just spice up and season their darn food. It literally has no flavor…
Mediocre at Best. After seeing the good reviews and knowing Bellingham lacked good Chinese, I had high hopes for this restaurant. First off, the restaurant itself is clean, however the algae ridden fish tank should have been a sign to what was to come, as well as the womens restroom which was disgustingly dirty. I ordered to go, only waited about 15 minutes. I was some what surprised for the quick turn around, but happy to get my order quickly. Ordered egg rolls, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, and pork fried rice. The egg rolls were OK at best. Nothing but cabbage, some shredded BBQ pork, and the only flavor I could taste was sesame oil. They were more chewy than crispy. The pork fried rice was gross. Seems like it had been sitting forever, typical frozen peas and carrots with raw onion diced and thrown in. The pork did not taste fresh what so ever. I love BBQ pork, but had to pick it out. The sesame chicken was covered in sauce, soggy, and again, seems like it was made hours ago. The Mongolian beef was more like Mongolian onions, I almost called to complain but didn’t want to bother at this point. Flavor was good, but sidelined by chewy beef, and a scant amount. Will not be going back, still on the hunt for good Chinese.
For a long time I’ve been saying that Bellingham is lacking good Chinnese food. LOOK NO FURTHER!ordered Pork-Fried Rice & General Chkn – both exceed my expectations. The generals even had a variety of veggies in it which was a healthy addition to the sweet sauce. 5- stars
The best most consistent flavors and super service in this town for Chinese food. Try the ginger string bean dishes!
Tasty veggie lo mein! Friendly service and open til 10pm.. great place.
Best in the area. I read another user’s review and had to share my two cents. I do not know what authentic Chinese food is. I do, however, know American Chinese food. If you want stale, sitting under a heat lamp or in a steam tray Chinese food with little choice, you can go to Panda Express, Hawaiian BBQ, or Haggen. But if you want fresh, made to order Chinese food, the BEST option is Xing’s. Although the decor needs an update, the people working there are very friendly and their food is very good. They are also accommodating (Tell them what you want, exactly, and they will make it. I once went in and asked for dish with white meat chicken, lots of veggies and some spice. The waiter told me to get a specific dish and he would make it spicy for me. It was great!). You get a lot of food for you money, plus free tea. If you go during lunch you also get soup and a generous lunch portion. My wife and I often get their dinner for two, which they will adapt to your liking (we don’t eat beef, but they allow us to get two chicken dishes), which comes with enough food for three meals. On top of all that, they have a plethora of different dishes, both typical and outside the box, and are the only local Chinese restaurant I have found that has Mei Fun!Anyway, you should give them a try and I hope you enjoy it. PS. I once made the mistake of ordering take out from the other panda restaurant (Lucky Panda) and it was a terrible mistake. I ordered our typical dinner for two, but we got less food for more money and it was AWFUL. Do not make the same mistake.
Yet Another Pothole In The Road. My seemingly never ending quest for good Chinese food in Bellingham found yet another pothole in the road, this time at Xing’s Panda Palace. I should have gone across the street to Panda Express. The food is better and considerably cheaper. I ordered takeout and intentionally got more food than we could eat at one sitting. I love Chinese leftovers, especially for breakfast (I know that sounds strange, but it’s true). Now, we’ve got a lot of leftovers that we’ll probably never eat. Things started out well. The crispy bean curd appetizer was really good; but that’s about it for the positive aspects of this dinner. The Fried Rice, Egg Foo Young, Moo Shu Pork and Shredded Beef Szechuan Style were all greatly under seasoned. Only the beef dish is supposed to be spicy, but they are ALL supposed to be flavorful, and they were not. A couple of the dishes were also overcooked, an absolute no no for Chinese cuisine. Oh well, I’ll keep trying. Somewhere around here there has to be an out-of-the-way hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant that’s really good. I hope.
