Great place, great beef, great wine experts around. We spent a lovely evening here with group of friends on our way to Alaska. Having overnight in Seattle we did reservation in advance, while the place is quite packed with people in the evenings. I regret it’s open only until 10 PM, otherwise we would have stayed longer for sure. We started with some cocktails out of which I can definietely recommend the smokey met martini – local classic, recommended by some foodies from Seattle. I liked it very much, as well as bottle of blended wine from Washington State, suggested by our very nice and experienced sommelier. That place has excellent service, you feel appreciated and honoured all the time by the table. We shared lobster pasta as a starter for the table and decided to choose amazing american wagyu and chateaubriand steaks with asparagus, mushrooms, baked potato and brussel sprouts on side. That was large portion of quality meat cud and served next to our table with perfect timing. We had no space for dessert left, but loved eating at the Metropolitan Grill. Beef was smooth and extremely tasty, waiters talkative and friendly and bill did not ruin us at all.
Fantastic! is the one word I can use to describe this restaurant. The food is amazing, with an incredible selection of steak options. Pricing is high, but well worth it for steak lovers. The meat was so tender I could use my butter knife to cut it.The Wait staff range from Exceptional to average. Over the two visits I have had recently, my 1st waiter was nothing short of exceptional. Highly engaged and knowledgeable. He explained the nuances between a $50 steak and a $250 steak. The 2nd visit’s waiter was highly entertaining, but less engaged when talking about the menu options.I highly recommend this for any steak lover visiting Seattle.
Well, if you want a place with no surprises and consistently excellent food…this is your place. The service was excellent and the food is amazing. The atmosphere is pretty stuffy and formal, but that’s what people like when they are celebrating something. With the prices of dinners ranging from $65-$125 for your main course, it isn’t an everyday place for most people. Steaks cooked to perfection is what they are known for and they did not disappoint!! webwomaniya.wordpress.com
Maybe one oft favorite happy hours! 3pm-6pm. The seating is limited. And it’s busy at the end of the week. GREAT sized burger for $7! Delectable fried artichoke hearts for the same!
I am puzzled with a rating of 3.3? all of my meals have been fabulous and I recommend this to everyone who travels to Seattle, Did this small chain start in Seattle or Portland, but this is one of the restaurants I do go to when back in the NW.
Love the cocktail and the food. Waiter was super funny. Filet mignon was great and the grilled veggie also super tasty. Not a big fan of steak. But it’s great to visit this place once a while.
tl;dr: You cant go wrong ordering anything on the lunch menu at The Met. Order a side of fries if your dish doesnt come with them, or steal some from your lunch date. Some restaurants seem obvious in what theyre trying to achieve. The Metropolitan Grill is very clearly a high-end steakhouse. Important people dine here, and the classics are done well. No one needs to be told this, because its made obvious by the heated valet stand, the case of raw steaks in the entryway, the high-backed booths and the wood paneling everywhere you turn. When you walk in, you know youre about to get treated to old-timey service by a guy in a white jacket. What most people dont know is that The Met serves lunch, and thats where the value is.The Mets lunch menu is a study in opulence. For less than $20, you can experience all the perks of dinner service while digging into a sandwich that seems hilariously out of place. The lunch options offered by The Met are all of the heavy, rich variety, and theyre all wonderfully sloppy.Whenever I go to The Met for lunch, the menu taunts me. I have a favorite that I always order, and I always regret not choosing from the spectacular specials menu. That is, until my sandwich comes. The New York steak sandwich is an entire New York steak grilled and absolutely smothered with mushrooms, onions, and a pan sauce that can only be described as luscious. The whole thing is served open-faced on a giant roll, covered in provolone. Knife and fork is the only possible way to tackle this sandwich. And the fries. It sounds silly to wax and wane over a pile of potatoes when a steak is sitting right next to them, but The Mets fries are hands down the best in the city. They are seasoned better than any fry Ive ever had the pleasure of tasting. Theyre crispy and thin, but also have that wonderful squishy potato middle that so many fries miss. They are so on point that it wouldnt surprise me if they had one person manning the fry station, testing a fry from each batch before sending them out.Though the New York steak sandwich is most definitely my recommendation, the specials menu is always astounding. While doing research for this post, I peeked at the most recent lunch special menu (go look, its ridiculous) and it was all I could do to not schedule a lunch with any friend willing to plunk down the cash. Meatloaf, chicken fried steak, beef stroganoff, a Philly cheesesteak, and a burger dip dont really sound worthy of a freak out, but when will you ever get to try any of these dishes made with the best beef money can buy? That is the idea behind The Mets lunch. They arent blowing your mind with new, exciting flavor combinations. They wont be putting anything on your plate that your mom couldnt make for dinner. What they will do is take those classics and make them better than you ever could, which is exactly what I love to pay for. If you can render me speechless with a pile of fries, thats talent.
