Well, I come from the Pub Capital of India, Bangalore that is. Bangalore is also becoming Indias Microbrewery Monopoly. So am familiar with the microbrewery scene, however here in Seattle I just dont get it, the City is brimming with Microbreweries, there are places that have 160 taps, there are places that have 60 taps and there is a huge Washington Wine scene going on. This city no wonder has a dearth of options for watering holes, but what makes a real difference is how good to great the food served alongside. And that is why I love The Pike Pub, the quality of food that gets served here is awesome, the Truffle Fries are top notch & is a must try whether you are having it with your beer or just by itself. Its absolutely awesome that there is so much of truffle flavour thats packed in the portion.Another appetiser worth a mention is the Chicken Wings, its an absolute delight to have, & great portions is something that I love even more. The smoked salmon was wonderful as a main, with well made Herbed butter & more than decent bread slices. This place is a must visit not just for the beer also for the good food & the great service they provide.
I found this pub by mistake as I was walking along 1st Avenue, and I’m glad I did. The decor here is great. They have everything from bikes hanging from the ceiling to posters and coasters hanging on the walls. The beer here is great as well and it’s all or mostly local beer. Only thing I didn’t like was that the food was much too pricey, but I would come back for the beer, and maybe the cheapest appetizer. However, I feel that a true pub also needs or should have a few inexpensive food items to munch on. My phone also stopped working while I was here and one staff was nice enough to help me locate a nearby ATT store and another staff was also nice enough to let me make a call from their phone. Cheers!
Had eaten here for lunch and had gluten free pizza with pepperoni, red peppers, cherry peppers of some kind and black olives. Got food poisoning for 10 hours. Don’t eat here.
I’m not sure how others claim that this place has good service. There would have to be service to rate. For such a big and bustling joint, they had no servers. You had to wait in one long line for at least twenty minutes to get both drinks and place food orders. I would have eaten and gotten more than one drink if the system was even slightly quicker and more sensical.
Fun atmosphere, friendly service, good food and great beer. I recommend a bowl of crab chowder and a space needle IPA. Fun place to eat. You won’t be able to stop looking around at all the beer coasters and postcards hanging on the walls.
Let me just say that as a 40yr old guy, I couldnt get served here because I didn’t have a North American issued ID. Not even an Australian drivers license would suffice. Apparently if you look 35 or under you need to present a North American issued ID. After being in the US and Canada for a month, first time it’s ever happened, what a joke.
Come for the beer. Stay for the breweriana museum and food. All About Beer Magazine was right! Great fun and a nice atmosphere. Since I didn’t see everything on this visit, I guess I’ll have to come back!
