Had a lovely lunch there today with a friend. We shared the calamari and white truffle chicken salad. It was delicious! Courteous staff and cool A/C with a view. It doesn’t get any better on a sunny, hot Seattle summer day! I will be returning!
Right time, right Place. Oysters, check. Crab, check. Onion soup, check. Duck breast, bouillabaisse, scallops, or rabbit roulade– check. Perfect balance of non-ostentatious service, check. View of fery pulling out to Baiinbridge-yup. Eclectic wine list and enthusiastic bartender. This place is classic fine Seattles dining. Has been and continues to be where an aficionado’s meal is the norm.
Went thee for the first time last night. Lovely courteous staff, and fantastic food! The Escargot was great, too. I was there with a lover of French food, she approved! I had a great pork chop in a very delicate sweet glaze/sauce, and the rabbit was good. More veggie options would be nice to see on the menu, but this place was great!
I have been meaning to try this place for a while, and I finally did it a couple of weeks ago. What a nice surprise! Now I wish I discovered this place earlier. Place Pigalle is kind of hidden in a corner of the Pike Place Market. I thought the outside of the place was unassuming, but once I stepped in I was greeted by a charming and relaxed space with a nice view of the water. In terms of food, I intentionally gave them a challenge by ordering the seared halibut, which I have always considered a very hard fish to cook right. They totally knocked it out of the park. The fish was tender and moist with a nice crispy crust. The edamame puree and hash were nice compliments to the fish in terms of texture, flavor, and presentation. The light green color looked very fresh and enticing on the plate. The red porcini oil drizzle gave the dish some additional flavor and a nice color highlight.
No reviews had been posted in a while so I wasn’t if the standard would be maintained. Didn’t disappooint! Snug place tucked away behind the pig at Pike Place. Busy and bustling. Food was great and the service very attentive. The octopus w fennel & lavendar sauasage was a excellent marriage of flavor & textures
Nice ambience. Expensive, bland food. My husband and I came here for Valentine’s dinner. Although the staff was friendly, service was good, and we enjoyed the ocean views and the intimate, pleasant atmosphere, there was one big problem. The food was pretty lackluster, certainly not worth the price. We ordered a salad, the french onion soup, and bouillabaisse. My husband said the salad was good but nothing remarkable. I absolutely love french onion soup and will jump at the chance any day, especially at a nice place like this, supposedly specializing in french specialties. Although it had a perfectly baked nice gruyere cheese on top, the broth itself was, sadly, pretty bland. Kind of on par with the frozen, simply reheat in the microwave stuff you can get at Costco. Then for the main course we both had the bouillabaisse. Pretty good quality seafood, that had such sadly unrealized potential– it could have been so much more in the right hands. It suffered from a terrible lack of flavor, much worse than the french onion. It was just basically partly submerged in a kind of watery tomato broth. Pretty pathetic. Definitely not worth the money, you can get MUCH better seafood in this area for the price!!! Try Anthony’s down on the waterfront or Six-Seven at the Edgewater Hotel. So basically although I enjoyed the atmosphere, and being out with my husband, I left wishing we had gone somewhere else. 🙁
Very Enjoyable. My boyfriend and I went here for our one year anniversary. It was lovely! Walking in there are small, beautiful little tables adorned with flowers and candles. The place is warm and very cozy, with a beautiful view of Elliot Bay. The waitstaff was friendly and very knowledgable, and our waitress brought everything out exactly when and how we ordered it (we did four courses instead of just entrees). Walking up to the restaurant felt as if you were walking into a french bistro, for its location is right behind where they throw the fish in the Market. The food was wonderful and perfectly seasoned, came out warm and we got whatever we asked for. (We had rabbit soup, calamarie dijonaisse, liver pate, and butternut squash ravioli, and creme brulee for desert. All very delicious!). The waitress was always available, but not overbearing. The wine selection was vast, and the Maitre’D was wonderful in selection the perfect wine for us.It was a wonderful night, and I would reccomend it for a couple wanting to have a quiet evening out.
