Stopped by here and had some great food. The beef empanadas and lamb sliders were very good. Nice beer selection. Went during happy hour and got a lot to eat and drink for about $25.

Great for trying out options. Good quality food, great for sampling more then one or 2 items at a time. Well prepared, very authentic and flavorful. Good service, quick service, great place for al-fresco dining on sunny days over lunch. Not a place to go for a big appetite of course but thats not why you go to Tapa’s venue either. Tri tip steak is great, veggie empanada is a great choice for non meat eaters and this coming from a die hard meat lover to! Prices a bit high but the quality justifies it in my mind.

Good for a snack. You can eat a meal at most tapas resturants. Not here. The menu is too limited. But if you are looking for a drink and a snack before or after the ferry, this is a good choice. Service is a bit slow. Not vegan friendly.

I was happy, even excited to see something new in Bremerton. Tapas, what a great idea, right? Yes, when executed well. The atmosphere is pleasant. The beverages are uninspired and mediocre. The food is a touch overpriced for the serving size, not to mention very slow. 20 minutes for a plate of salumi is not acceptable. The service is wonderful – if you’re a personal friend of the proprietor or staff – otherwise, it’s somewhere between impersonal and patronizing. Finally, in addition to the above, my credit card was overbilled. I’d considered giving them a third and final chance until I discovered this. I’ll not be returning to Toro Lounge.

Potential but falls short…. I was excited to see a Gastropub open in downtown Bremerton, where the restaurant & lounge scene is in dire need of help. Unfortunately, my wife and I felt it fell a little short. The clams were overpowered by far too much garlic and I didn’t get any Chorizo, or at least if it was there it wasn’t much. Plus, i think this dish could of been presented in a little deeper bowl as it was hard to scoop the clams in the broth. Next, the Naan wasn’t anything to write home about, tasted pre-made and the Olive Tapenade was, well bland. Finally, in terms of food, the Lamb Sliders were, to put it simply, terrible… They looked more like meatballs than sliders and the flavor was very overpowering. As for the cocktail list, boring is the only way to put it. Nothing seems unique or matches the food in anyway. It would have nice to have seen fresh cocktails utilizing central, south and mexican ingredients, given that the menu is rooted in those flavors. Something that is exciting to drink at a Gastropub vs. a Vanilla Cosmo or Old Fashioned (which was served in a footed Cosmo glass which I found odd…). A honey and basil Caipirhina anyone? Or perhaps freshly muddled strawberries with an Anejo tequila, fresh lime and a dash of balsamic? Things like this to spruce up a tired and unappealing cocktail list that belongs at your neighborhood Applebees. In conclusion, there is definitely potential for the Toro Lounge to be great, but needs some help with a few menu tweeks and a new cocktail stance. I will visit again in hopes of redemption.

Since my first visit the menu is much better. They offer good food and larger Tapas selections. We will return.15 Sep, 2011Good beer, food is okay but tiny portions. Tables seat 4 but apps come in sets of 3. Not enough food.
