Good bbq. Very friendly staff.
My opinion of what consists of truly great bbq is likely to be jaded by the fact that we are not in the south. We flat out could bbq a piece of cardboard and be happy with it in the Pacific Northwest. That said the bbq at Carolina Smoke is everything you can ask for from wonderfully prepared meats to delicious sides and even some proper tea. While I think that as a region the best bbq I have ever experienced was in Texas I am happy to make Carolina Smoke my regular bbq spot and they have yet to disappoint.
My go to BBQ joint. Owner is hella cool, and staff is friendly. I like to go on Fridays or the weekend for the prime rib. Spotted with garlic cloves, they cut it thick, with mac n cheese, mashed taters, I’m in a food coma. Everything else I’ve tried here is well smoked, and they have several sauces for any palette.
This was our second time at Carolina Smoke. On our previous visit they had tables in the parking lot, but not this time. We arrived around 7PM and they were already running out of items, so come as early as you can. My wife was after the Half Chicken with Side Entree and ended up with a 1/4 rack of Ribs and some Chicken. She isn’t really a ribs person, so it was a disappointment for her. She tried the Broccoli Slaw and liked it. I had Combo Sandwich #2, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork and Hotlink, with a side of Sweet Cornbread. The Sweet Cornbread was more like standard Southern Cornbread, but it would be sweeter than the Jalapeno Cornbread choice. There are three sauces on each table, an unlabeled mild and sweet BBQ sauce, Burning B, a smoky hot BBQ sauce, and Honey Mustard Vinegar, which ended up being both of our favorites. Turns out there is also an optional Vinegar with Pepper sauce, with we did not get to try. The food was very good.
Overpriced w/ good sauce. Honestly the title is all you need to read. The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches my girlfriend and I had were awful. It was like trying to eat cardboard it was so dry and flavorless. The sauces are amazing. But the good itself wasnt worth the money.
Disappointing. I’ve eaten here in the past and decided to pick up beef ribs for dinner. four small ribs with very little meat, the meat was as dry and hard as jerky. one side was corn bread that was also dry and hard, they charged extra for bbq sauce. certainly not worth $16. I won’t be going back.
Good BBQ for the NW. Excellent sides, home style dining room. Great sauces and variety.
