Sunset Hill Cheesesteak. I went here today with a co-worker based on the reviews here on US. Overall it was pretty good. I had the Philly Cheese steak. I waited until I got back to work to eat it since it was too cold to sit outside, so the bread got a hair soggy. (my fault) That said, I thought the bread was good, which is a make it or break it for me on a sandwich.The meat/onion/mushrooms had a ton of flavor, perhaps a little on the salty side for my taste though. Garlic fries were a good thought, though they seemed like they had been sitting there for a while, like they’d been sitting in a warmer, the garlic covered that up. Being winter, probably not as much traffic as when the weather is good so I would guess that’s why. Though it wasn’t perfect, overall, yes, it was a very positive experience and I will be back. The dude running it looks like he keeps the place really clean. He was super cheerful and excited when I called in, and when we got there.
Support Your Local Food Vendor!. Visiting Big Reds yesterday makes me want to yell the name from a mountaintop. The food was great as it is every time we visit. What’s missing? The crowds. Where are they? Come on Spokane, we need to pull together and support our local vendors that have pulled away from those big franchises. Let’s show them that the love they have for food means something. They are not serving up frozen meat and prepackaged veggies. The college is maybe 5 minutes away and the prices and food served their are reheated and mostly tasteless. Get in your car and give the local guy your 10 bucks not the fast food companies. Long Live Big Reds!!
Me gusta el rojo grande.. Big Reds was on the radar for a while and when I finally got a chance to eat there I couldn’t have been happier. The dogs are amazing, the cheesesteaks are solid, and the fries are phenomenal. Only word of warning is the prices went up $1 for all items. At $4, the dogs were perfectly priced – at $5, it becomes a little more of a debatable choice for fast food. All in all, no complaints.
