Pretty Standard Stuff…. The low rating for this place is undeserved. The food here is no better–or worse–than a dozen other joints in town just like it. Just because it’s been in business longer than all the rest, maybe? I dunno? Odd thing is there were no Asian staff anywhere in sight, but our family was there to eat, not to verify ethnic authenticity. I hadn’t been here in twenty years, and I can’t remember the interior ever looking as nice as it does now. And I will say that their crab rangoons were not good….they were great. This place will outlast every recently opened Spokane restaurant by decades…
Great Chinese food!. Not sure what all the bad reviews are for. We have been going to the Cathay Inn for years and love it. The service is great, the food is amazing and it’s always clean. Whether it’s lunch with a friend, dinner with family or drinks and appetizers in the bar, if you want good Chinese comfort food… This is the place. It’s even worth the drive from the south hill!!!
Traditional American Chinese. The Cathay Inn has been in business in Spokane for nearly 65 years at the same address and under the same family ownership. Their food is traditional American Chinese. It’s not fancy, but it is delicious and there is plenty of it. It is consistently good. The atmosphere is excellent, very comfortable. Our family has been going there for many years and we really enjoy the menu and the service. Some of the servers have been there a long time and they treat you like family.

Horrible BLAND food. Awful service. Don’t waste your money or your appetite.
Awful Food…. We went there about 3 years ago and remember the atmosphere and food was good. Not so, last night we ordered 3 take out meals! Horrible, horrible food. With very soggy fried shrimp they didn’t serve cocktail sauce, but ketchup. There chow mein was almost all onion, very little other vegetable. My husband had the Buddha special, it was awful with 3 tiny pieces of tofu. I had chicken that was hot and spicy…it was bland and tasteless!
Service and cuisine are both mediocre, at best. Pass on this place if you can.
