Not worth the price, they should be charging only $7-8 a plate considering how poor their food’s quality is. I ordered almond chicken with noodles, the chicken seemed to have been marinated for god knows how long and was super salty; the baby corns and bamboo shoots came out of a can and the bamboo shoots were woody; the almonds were just scattered across the top whole and untouched; the noodles were simultaneously over and undercooked and soggy, as if they hadn’t been stirred enough during cooking then drowned in a strange corn-starch heavy sauce. The whole dish was generally oily and flavorless, aside from salt, onion, and garlic. I expect fresh ingredients and competently prepared food when I eat at a restaurant, that’s not what I found at Cathay Inn. I could prepare better at home, and when you’re a restaurant charging $13+ a plate that’s outrageous. The decor is slightly mismatched and severely outdated; the whole thing was very reminiscent of the 90’s. There is a mural above the entryway who’s art was good and composition would be passable were it not for the haphazardly included kanji with english translations that were clumsily included in the design without keeping the composition of the piece or asiatic art conventions in mind.If you’re looking for a good restaurant with food that matches the price head to Thai Bamboo up the road a little ways, don’t eat here.A reviewer on Google stated this restaurant belongs on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, and I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
Service was horrible. We waited in the lobby for 10 minutes before being seated, then waited for 20 minutes after we were seated for the waiter to come to the table. After waiting for so long with three small children, the food was a big disappointment. We have been in many times before, but this will be our last.
