Good food, slow service. I had a fois gras pate and the polenta lasagna. The pate was delicious, however the brioche toast points tasted like day old Wonder bread. The polenta lasagna was great. My husband had the Coulette steak. It was perfectly prepared. Our only complaint was the compound butter on to of the steak. Neither one of us liked it. It took 1hour 48 minutes for our two courses. It was Saturday night at 8pm. They were busy at first, but almost empty towards the end. We felt forgotten. I’ll likely return, but not on a weekend.
You’ll Love It!. We’d been wanting to come here for some time, my wife’s birthday was the perfect excuse. The food is amazing! We had grilled calamari salad to start, the last one of the night. I feel sorry for those that missed out it was that good! I had the Squid Ink Tagliatelle and my wife had the Pappardelle Lamb Ragu, both were off the hook! For desert we shared Italia Tiramisu. It’s a small place so make reservations. Once you’ve enjoyed the food here, you’ll be back!
Decent Food, Overly Priced. A friend treated me to dinner here; it was a first visit for both of us. We arrived right at 5 pm and realized there was zero parking. We had to drive around the block several times to find a place (about 2 blocks away at night not in the best neighborhood). The interior was casual, cozy, and warm, which we loved after having to walk in the cold from our car. The music was exactly the right level and added to the overall ambiance. The chairs looked very uncomfortable, so I opted to be seated on the booth side, which had some padding. Our waiter, Sam, was polite, offered us several of the evening’s specials, and tended us well. He neither hovered nor went missing in action. The first course was focaccia with a oil and balsamic dip. Taste: very good but the bread was salted, which diminished the overall dish. Next we ordered the Pork Pate appetizer. This too, was overly salty. Flavor was average, and the accoutrements (pickled red onions, plum jam, etc.) were overly salty again! Would not order this starter again. My friend had grilled lamb chops with caramelized cauliflower and potatoes torta. The lamb was very muttony, unpleasant on the palate, in my opinion. I ordered the Italia Burger with Kobe beef etc. This was my first try at Kobe beef and I was very disappointed in the flavor–very average. In my opinion not nearly as good as certified angus. The burger was cooked bo perfection and was presented attractively, however. The gorgonzola was salty, but it is typical of this cheese. The French fries were addictive! I could not stop eating them! We finished the evening with Chocolate Crme Brle, which was burnt black rather that caramelized as is usual. Once we got past that, the dessert was basically milk chocolate pudding with a sugar topping. Disappointed again. They do have quite a few gluten free options, but again, are pricy. Overall, while they have some great ideas, a lovely interior, and AMPLE portions, it’s way overpriced and not worth returning to.
Top Notch. My husband and I recently moved to Spokane from Seattle and are so pleased to find a superior restaurant in a cool district. We had the Calamari Salad, AMAZING watermelon cucumber cold soup, lamb chops and lamb ragu. Jessie, our waiter, was professional, funny, and made us feel at home. He even asked Beth, one of the owners, to pop by our table to chat. The owners backgrounds show their passion for food and for creating a memorable experience. Thank you Italia Trattoria- we will be back and will bring family and friends.
Current Favorite Spokane Dining. Italia Trattoria offers a lively atmosphere and unique, always fresh, locally sourced menu options. Reservations are an absolute must and I have started going earlier in the evening, to receive better service. The Beef Sirloin Carpaccio is perfect and I have sampled almost every entree on the menu and would recommend any of the dishes with complete confidence. I can’t stay away from the Lamb Ragu w/ Fresh Mint and the recent offering of Rabbit Ravioli w/ Carrot Butter Sauce, was a home run! I simply love this restaurant.
Fabulous Italian food, wonderful creative menu and lovely, comfortable atmosphere. I always have a great experience here. Service is helpful and friendly. Food is top quality. Great wine list. Fun place for weekend brunch too! Despite the unusual (in a good way!) menu, my teenager always finds something delicious to enjoy too!
Food was amazing. This place is a gem. Atmosphere, staff, food all perfect. The Cesar dressing has an interesting flavor twist and the homemade sausage has a very authentic flavor.
