Great cafe atmosphere and food! It’s one of the places where you can get your name on a mug if you are a regular customer. Fun little dinner that is Gonzaga themed. They serve numerous breakfast and lunch items. The breakfast tacos are a particular favorite and the service is quick and kind.
Real country gravy! That just about says it all. But there’s more! A perfect omelet, fresh-squeezed OJ, and possibly the best waffle I’ve ever had in my life! All served up in an authentic atmosphere by a friendly, efficient staff. I have a new favorite breakfast place!
Sweet tooth. On a day you have a sweet tooth, please try the pumpkin waffle stuffed with Reese’s pieces topped with vanilla ice cream…Amazing!
Happy little diner, nothing fancy. Well, I found it. A sit-down lunch place with food that hits the spot, has soup, can get me in and out in less than an hour and costs under ten bucks. I like a little comfort food on hard workdays and am glad I stopped in. The chicken noodle soup wasn’t bad. The Monte Cristo is a classic so figured I should try it. The ham and turkey meat could be better, but seemed typical and okay. I couldn’t finish it all which never happens. My bill was less than eight dollars, kind of a nice change. This place was packed at noon on a weekday and the great servers had it all under control. Ignore other reviews about bad service or a bad environment. It’s just kind of small and retro, nothing really stood out except the comfortable hum of everything going on. Use your quiet and inside voice here, delve into the menu variety and enjoy your affordable check.
The Best Homestyle Breakfast in Spokane?. Expect there are dissenters, and I’ve been told Ferguson’s deserves that accolade, though I’ve as yet not had a chance to eat there. But little doubt Kalico Kitchen is among the best when it comes to offering homestyle American breakfast, be it bacon, eggs and toast, biscuits and gravy, or includes pancakes or waffles (the last is particularly good). Even corned beef hash can still be found on the menu (and yes, its preparation is among the best I’ve had).A bit perplexed by the few naysayers, as I’ve eaten there regularly since arriving in Spokane and have never had an experience similar to theirs. As for choice of music (never blaring in my experience or even noticeably religious) ambiance or rubbing elbows sometimes with the other customers, guess for any number of reasons this might not be one’s choice. But Kalico Kitchen is always full whenever I’ve been there, regardless of hour. So obviously what’s on offer works for most, which, considering the quality of the food, it should in my opinion… My only complaint? The coffee is surprisingly weak, considering Kalico is located in the home state of Starbucks and Seattle’s Best… If you enjoy hearty or dark-roasted coffee — coffee that truly tastes like coffee — best bring your own.
Great place.. I try to go often. Mini Iron omelet with waffle is a favorite. Great service. The food is hot, delicious and fast. Their prices are very reasonable for Spokane. AAA!
Good food- Bad seating and atmosphere. With no air-conditioning make sure you come early! The food here is good, fair priced with good service. Unfortunately we came around noon and the heat of the breakfast cooking and the noon sun had the place sweltering hot. It was hard to watch all the nice servers in their synthetic fabric shirts sweat as they waited tables. I am not sure if this was normal or the AC was just broke? The seating is close and very personal, almost like a cafeteria set up in someone’s home. They play christian music quite loud- christian radio that is. So you get bombarded with jesus and radio adds. Based on the seating and the atmosphere I would not go back.
