An Amazing Dining Experience!. I loved the atmosphere and food here. I would recommend the vegetarian sampler. The sampler is a lot of food, so go with friends. It is a great way to try different types of Ethiopian food. The food was served family style, which was also a new and fun experience. I would recommend going and trying the food out. I cannot wait to go back.
Great food and nice people, gluten free vegan friendly. On advice of the owner we had the veggie platter and a couple extra veg sides. Coffee (roasted on site) and Nutella cake for dessert. Everything was so delicious that we ate an unholy amount. This will be our haunt every time we pass through spokane. I’d go a hundred miles out of my way for it.
Reliable tasty. We’ve had dinner here quite a few times now, and its always good, depends on what you get though. It is a little spendy for portions that are not huge, but definitely filling. Shiro is REALLY good, same with the vegetables, and their injera is pleasantly fermented and fluffy. I think the combination plates are wonderful and a good deal, but we would love to occasionally substitute one of the dishes for something less spicey (for the kids with us). There is one server, and really nice lady, who serves us almost every time we’ve been there, and she’s great. On one or two instances when we got one of the younger servers, they were spacey and stand-offish. The restaurant itself is too crowded. When you’re sitting at a table of four, with the huge plate of food sitting between your party, where do you each put your water glass? The dessert selection is not great, but if you happen to get the sweet bun with coconut milk, on a night when the buns are fresh, you’re in for a treat.
First time, but not the last. We went out this evening with another couple, friends who are fun and adventurous and foodies, wanting to try something out of the ordinary. The Queen of Sheba definitely provided a refreshing change from the average dining experience for each of us- the communal dish was really enjoyable! The veggie chickpea dish, the red lentils, and the azifa lentil salad were my very favorites, but each dish was unique and a taste delight. Try the lamb tibs; that was especially tasty, too.Almaz was a personable and personal hostess chatting with us and making us feel welcome and at home. Her son was our waiter and fielded our questions with grace and good humor. You may feel full when you leave, but you can know it was wholesome, fresh, from-scratch food and you don’t regret one bite.We can’t wait to return and bring more friends to introduce them to this wonderful Ethiopian cuisine!
Disappointing !!!. The young blonde guy who waited on us was a seriously lacking in information. we told him it was our 1st time he gave us NO dirrection. Didnt explain the menue, what came with or didnt come with meals etc. when we ordered an appitizer he just dropped it and ran, didnt tell us what the sauce was or what to do with it.Food was uneventful. Tasted like bland indian food. service was soooo bad it ruined the whole experience. We wont go back or recommend.
An absolute gem!
Flavors excellent; as good or better tha n we’ve had in Portland or DC. Wonderful friendly service. Ambience weak.
