Great place!! Food is fantastic! Service is just as good. The ambiance is really cool here. Its a completely revamped old power plant. I highly recommend this little gem.
Had to sleep on this review, and make sure the morning after I still felt the same way. I feel the same way. It wasn’t very good. It may be because we went with a prix fixe special, and not off the regular menu, but all indications are the kitchen is not living up to standards for a perceived ‘iconic’ Spokane restaurant–which is also considered one of the high end dining experiences in this city.It did not start well. Our host asked if we would like a booth or a table, and I told him for height reasons I’d prefer a table. That was obviously the wrong answer for him. Instead of seating us in main dining area, he took us to what amounted to be a dark corridor leading to an exit door, and sat us at the front table, right by a high traffic area coming from the kitchen. I felt second rate. I grabbed our menus and moved a few tables down towards said exit. If we were going to be sequestered from the rest of the patrons, might as well sit farther away from people rushing in and out of the kitchen.Food wise, everything was below my expectations considering their reputation. House made bratwurst app was dry and grainy, and while it came with a beer mustard, it sure has heck didn’t come with much. German potato salad was nothing like German potato salad, with scant bacon, and flavorfully devoid of vinegar. And it wasn’t as warm as it should have been, but that perhaps is being too picky on my part. My wife’s rock fish did not taste fresh. Don’t know what else to say about that. I ordered something called Kurabi Ribs (I had to google image it to get an idea of what exactly it was). Images were mostly of what looked like Korean kalbi style ribs, but what was served was basically a quarter of a rack of fatty spare ribs with no discernible flavor, braised in the oven. It was completely unmemorable. Desserts were ‘Susan G. Komen’ cupcakes–a nice idea for breast cancer awareness month–but sadly, they seemed thawed from frozen, because it was ice cold biting in to them. You may be asking why I didn’t send things back I was not satisfied with? This was our 15th wedding anniversary dinner, and I did not divulge my displeasure with the meal to my lovely wife. I wanted the evening to be special, and in her mind it was. Sometimes it’s better to be dutiful, than deliberate. In the end, I expected way more from this place, because of it’s status not just within the city, but nationally as well. There’s a reason those smoke stacks find there way on to bumper shots on TV when Gonzaga is playing at home on ESPN, or myriad other Spokane marketing media on websites and in print. And I’m glad I slept on this review to be sure that what I experienced was true to my measure. I am comfortable to have masked my displeasure from my lovely wife, yet grateful to have forums like this website to be able to vent that displeasure. I do not relish writing a bad review….ever.
Best restaurant in Spokane to date! We wanted a good steak dinner and we got exactly that and more. Nestled in an old industrial steam plant, The ambiance and food is perfect for Saturday night dinner. We have some really great service and ordered the beer soup, which I found a little heavy because it’s a cream-based soup, and the jalapeo steak complemented with their jalapeo infused beer. I know the beer flavour may sound a little off, but it was one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted in my life!!They cooked my steak exactly the way that I liked it (Chicago blue rare) and very few restaurants can do that. In terms of value, taste, service I give this place five stars. A must check out for anyone visiting anyone visiting Spokane or the area!
This is an interesting venue. I enjoyed looking at the brewing facilities. I dined with a large group and the service was timely and efficient. I enjoyed the cashews on my salad. My Stack Chicken had a barbecue type sauce and was served with raw julienned beets, mashed potatoes and zucchini which was an interesting combination of flavors,
How tall are the smoke stacks
Have had better here in the past. We have frequented the bar downstairs a few times now and have always loved the food, but this time the menu had changed and the items we ordered weren’t very good. We weren’t real hungry and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I have never had a drier pulled pork sandwich in my life. Not only the bun was dry, but the meat was crispy dry. No sauce to go with it either and the waitress was overworked and couldn’t be found. My hubby ordered the pork taco’s and they only came with a lime wedge and Tobasco sauce, no guacamole or salsa, which would have made it so much better. We may try them again, but if they aren’t good next time, we won’t be back.
Top flight customer service and excellent experience. My friends birthday several appetizers, 5 entres ribs were amazing and Iam a beef eater from Texas I will go back when in this area to THIS RESTAURANT and recommend it
