Came opening night, crazy busy! But this is a GOOD thing. I see others complaining about the wait on OPENING NIGHT, really? You came on arguably the busiest night, and you complain that your food takes a long time? The place was absolutely packed to the gills with people, all having a great time, and the staff was completely overwhelmed with the support from the community. (and I might add, learning how to work a busy night there and new computer system) And the owners were all over the room that night, the whole time I was there. I saw signs in the side patio areas that said that that area would not be served by waitstaff that evening, so I can only assume the guy complaining that he had to go to the bar to get his menu simply just neglected to read the signs. I’ve gone back several times since opening and the service was outstanding, food is several steps up from average pub food, and great beer selection. To be fair, your reviews should really be based on a normal night at the place, not some crazy outlier.

Re-opened: I miss the OLD Viking! We were extatic when we heard the Viking is re-opening. Like all their other fans, we looked forward to joining them for their grand reopening night. Unfortunately, things have not changed for the better. The new menu, while aiming for more upscale, was just loose leaf printer paper. This might have been excused on opening night, except that it took twenty minutes and a trip to the bar to get it. We ordered the blue cheese fries as an appetizer, and though we found them adequate, they were not worth waiting 45 minutes for. When they arrived they were cold, which rather indicates that the kitchen had them ready to go in a much more reasonable time frame. No manager visible , just a lot of inexperienced waitstaff losing track of things and yakking at the bar. Love the new cleaned-up look guys, but people don’t keep coming back for the great flooring. Overall, quite disappointed.20 Aug, 2011Truly excellent bar food, and truly excellent beer selection! The loaded tots are a basket of yummy heart-attack inducing goodness. If you’re watching your cholesterol, the salads are great too. Whatever your order, wash it down with your favorite beer. If they don’t have it, you were just being a pretentious ass anywas.

Great Bar With Great Music. I strongly recommend the Viking to any and all lovers of beer or live music. They have one of the largest selections I’ve ever seen and lots of great bands throughout the week.

Great Sandwiches. I used to come in here a lot when I worked in Spokane. We would come on Fridays for lunch. They were always quick for their service. They would serve us a basket of popcorn while we waited for our sandwiches. I just remember people from KXLY would come and eat here a lot. One time I saw Mark Fuhrman there. But this is one of those places that doesn’t look like much on the outside at all. It looks like a bunch of sheet metal leaning against each other creating a structured building. As soon as you enter into the building you have to let your eyes adjust to the dark environment. But as soon as you walk outside, you’re eyes have to adjust again so you can see with the bright light. This is a true bar and pub. The sandwiches are delicious. I’ve never had the beer or mixed drinks here, but remembered hearing they were reasonably priced for that.
