Coming from India these are the eateries that I miss the most .. no fuss places (mostly family owned), with simple yet delicious stuff, easy on the pockets .. serving nothing but fresh food.Drawing an analogy, we have them in plenty back in India .. serving Indian food mostly .. called dhabas 🙂 .. the seating, decor (even service to me) just doesn’t matter, all what you long for is the food. And when you find it delicious, nothing comes to mind except the plans for your next potential visit .. he he :DWas around the area yesterday and just like that decided to have a bite here ..To be honest, as soon as I walked in got a bit alarmed with the pre prepared food on the counter, I mean this doesn’t happen at an Asian place. The food is fresh out of the wok .. but when I saw the crowd (during lunch hours that too on a working day) eased up a bit, there is no way that they could go wrong and still have a full house. :)So, I had this Lunch combo one – rice with chicken and veggies + the egg flower soup @$6.25 :)The soup came in an instant, smallish bowl but on a cold and slippery day that it was yesterday .. a sprinkle of black pepper and it was needed. The chicken and rice combo was good too .. actually I had this chicken with veggies and inspite of the simplicity of the dish the range of veggies did impress me .. there were bamboo shoots, mushrooms, baby corn .. even water chesnut in there .. chicken was definitely fresh. All in all, the food was good and the occupied tables could be taken as an evidence. :DCall it my love for such places or anything but I would love to be here often and try all those different dishes specially the spicy soup bun bo hue.PS – on an extremely +ive note; they have this huge selection for vegetarians which is awesome and not that often found.
We heard good things and were really hopeful when we gave this a try tonight. Had Beef Pho and Duck Kung Pao with an appetizer of potstickers. The potstickers and sauce were tasty and the highlight of the meal. Ordered the Kung Pao at spice level of Mild or 2 out of 5. The sauce wasnt flavorful and had no indication of spice, so Id definitely ask for more spice than normal. There were more bones than meat, but the duck meat that was there was moist and had a good flavor. The Beef Pho had a good broth flavor, but it was disappointing to have beef ribs on the bone. Spent more of the meal removing bones and gristle than enjoying it. We will choose other Pho restaurants that we have been to over this one and unfortunately cant recommend it.
Has to be my fave asian. Everyone gets what they like. My kids get american chinese, I get my wonton soup, and hubby gets his vietnamese. This is a busy place that cooks it fresh, so have a nice family chat and get great food
