User reviews. Been coming here since I was a kid; however what we have been getting from the kitchen recently has been a little lack luster… the rice wasnt quite done and bland, the margarita we ordered came out almost tasting like a virgin drink after it came out wrong the first time, and on top of it our waiter who was also our host only checked in on us once outside of ordering and serving, and even seemed pretty intent on getting us out of there. The owner is such a sweet lady though, and i do hate seeing a childhood favorite place sitting empty half the time (their weekends and evenings tend to be busier), but after tasting the food recently i can see why. if the food gets seasoned better, the service improves, and the bartender review his menu again i will definitely come back, but not sure if thats just because of sentiment.

I started eating at the Mazatlan the day they open their door in Auburn and that was about 35 years ago – Never had a disappointing meal in any of their restaurants yet! Always Excellent service – This is down home Mexican cooking at it’s best – Wonderful Staff and Service – If you like your meals a particular way (just ask) they will do it the way you like it… The Owners and Operators are some of the finest people that I have ever met. Place is falling apart. I had take out and sat in the bar waiting until the food was ready. Water was coming through the roof (not overnight) with a large trash can right in the middle of the floor. I have a feeling this place will not be around for much longer. Food was not bad (or great) , but I tried this again after bad service the time prior. Place is now a dump and needs work.
Horribly slow service. Food was way to salty. Looks like it has not had a good cleaning any time recently.
