Worth Trying Out. Just visiting and on a budget. Stopped at this little place after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. Had a good burger at a good price. Flavorful and tasty! Plus, they grill the buns. Only complaints: A smaller chop on the onions would have been nice and the parking is pretty tight. Next time I’ll give the custard shake and hand sliced French fries a try.
I would have to say that the owners treat their employees so bad. I always hear about how the owners sleep in their car and always leave their employees working by their serfs. I don’t even understand why these people own the place if they never want to be there and they never seem to deal with complaints
Go to Leftys for burgers on 27th.
Little Holland Reincarnated. Many folks in the Tacoma area remember the legendary Little Holland, at the corner of Center and Orchard. It was a stand-alone burger joint where you could order to take out or eat at the picnic table out front. They closed in July of 2009, in the name of progress, and the little blue burger building was torn down. Now they have been reincarnated across the street as Mikie Burgers, named after what was arguably the flagship item of the Little Holland menu. I dropped by the other day and had one of those burgers. Yum. The current owners bought all the recipes with the business and are doing their best to duplicate the old menu. They’ve kept the prices the same as they were as well. It was a good burger and much like the LH version; the only criticism I have is there was just a bit too much sauce, but not enough to keep me away. The guy behind the counter was friendly, outgoing and looked like he was having a good tiem. Food was prepared quickly and the peanut butter/chocolate shake was perfect. There is no outside seating and inside they have six or eight stools along a counter, if you want to eat there. The stools have to go. They look like ’60’s art, white molded plastic on a single, spring loaded, chrome, stand; sort of like sitting on a pogo stick. On the other hand, these burgers were made to take out anyway. Grab one, if you get the chance.
