What in the world is happening to Springlake Cafe? The last two times I have been there have been awful. First visit about a month ago I order their Soup of the Day which was suppose to be Chicken Gumbo?? It was so salty I could not eat it nor did the so called waitress ask me why I was not eating it nor could anyone else at my table. The second visit, last Saturday I ordered a sandwich that was suppose to be on Ciabatta Bread. I was given two CRUSTS of bread which were 25% grilled. It was awful.I miss the fabulous place it used to be????

Breakfast :). A nice place to have breakfast. The menu isnt very big, but the food is delicious. My favorite is the french toast. Springlake has a warm friendly low key atmosphere. Come support this neighborhood cafe, you wont regret it.

Good food. I had been to the Spring Lake Cafe under its former name, The Poppy Seed Cafe, with a friend a few years ago. I returned to have lunch with the same friend today, using the Dealsaver coupon from the News Tribune. The food was excellent. I had a cranberry-turkey-pear spinach salad with a raspberry vinaigrette which was excellent. My friend had the penne pasta, which was generous and came with two pieces of flatbread. She could only eat half. The only problem I had was in using the coupon. It was for $30 of food, and we couldn’t use it for the tip or tax. I was aware that we had to spend it all at this visit or lose the balance, so we had to order a dessert for my friend to go. They went ahead and put the ice cream on top of it, and heated it until very hot. We thought they’d put the ice cream in a different container so she could get it home without it melting too much. As it was, she had to eat the ice cream before leaving. The waitress was attentive, refilling our water frequently and asking if things were okay. I would definitely go back–the food is good.
