Cool atmosphere. Nice enough staff. Small little place that’s fun to have a few drinks. But don’t eat here. You will be disappointed. If anyone if familiar with what Mexican food is, this is absolutely not it. Bland beens. The salsa is not salsa. The chips are a factory produced cardboard? highly disappointed, and even if I would have eaten everything on my plate (taco salad) I would have left hungry.
Meh. Food: Okay, but nothing to write home about. Burrito size is variable. The one I’m eating right now is disappointingly small.Service: The staff is mostly indifferent. Maybe I don’t fit in because I don’t look like a hipster.Basically, for better or worse, this is a place for kids, run by kids.
This place is really, really, really bad.. I live on Capitol Hill and have tried this place, time after time and it it is always bad. The food is pretty much atrocious each time. I am not really sure why hey can call it Tex-Mex. I lived in Texas for five years and it’s not even close. It’s a really cool place if you are just 21 and want to be seen being a pretentious hipster. You will get better food and service from a Taco truck. If you want better mexican food that will have flavor try Rancho Bravo about a block north. It’s worth it. Much better and the half the price.
Fun, Fresh, Funky!. Our first night in Seattle looking for our new apt found us at Bimbos. We weren’t sure what to expect but we were pretty hungry and craving mexican so we just google searched what was near our hotel. We were so pleasantly suprised by bimbos. Its not the extra indulgent and sloppy mexican food we’re used to back in Indiana but it was still equally as pleasing. The salsa was so fresh and I really appreciated the hint of garlic they added. I got the organic bean burrito and it rocked my world. The beans werent mushy and the cheese was perfect. I’ve rarely eaten a burrito and not felt weighed down….but this was the exception. As far as the guy that said they wanted to see his passport. I don’t know if this is the norm here in Seattle but Passports are the only thing accepted back where were from in Indiana for international guests. I’m not quite sure why this is but I doubt they were trying to be rude- probably just afraid of fines from the long arm of the law.
Take you passport with you. We heard about Bimbo’s the first day we arrived to Seattle, everybody told us about its good quality food and reasonable prices so obviously we had to try it. My partner and I tried to have lunch there last week, and I said tried because unfortunately we had to leave before we even had the chance to look at the menu. After we were sat, one of the waiters came to our table and ask us for our Id’s. We never thought that we had to show our Id’s to have lunch but then again, we just arrived to a different country and the laws are different everywhere so I showed him my Spanish ID card and then, the waiter told me he could only accept our passports. I thought it was ridiculous because we were only trying to have lunch, we were not even going to order alcohol, but obviously we left without saying anything else. The following day I asked several American people whether it was mandatory for foreigners in the US to have your passport with you at all times, and we were told it is not, and it is quite understandable since our passports have our visas on them and if we lose them, we are practically screw. We also have had lunch and dinner at numerous places after that day and have never been ask for any kind of Id.It was a very disappointing experience, specially because it was only our second day in Seattle and it left somehow a bitter taste in our mouth.I do not know if this is only Bimbo’s policy or most restaurants have the same one but having a waiter checking your passport so that you are allowed to have luch at a restaurant it is, quite frankly, stupid, since we were not trying to cross any border. Just for the record I am 31 years old and my partner is 36, we were not two teenagers trying to buy some alcohol at at liquor store.
So Fricken Good. Great food/cheap prices/friendly staff & the happy houris amazing…check it out for sure!
Bimbos Rocks. This place is awesome! I just moved here from NY and was super excited to check it out. I love all the organic and vegan options-great food at great prices. I am spreading the word that this place is THE PLACE!
