  After doing a bit of window shopping I slipped into Canon and yet again because it was a Friday night reservations were encouraged. Being impulsive as to where you stop by on such nights can be problematic if you don’t plan with a reservation but again Canon was very accommodating. There was only standing room at the moment so the hostess sent me over to the bar and I looked at their cocktail list and selected the cocktail that I wanted. It was not long and a seat opened up at the bar and I got to relax a bit more.I had two drinks here. Both were the same because it the cocktail was quite enjoyable. Off of their gin list I got their Grapefruit and Ginger cocktail which was quite refreshing but not too sour on the grapefruit. It was just right.The service was quite good despite it being a packed house and the cocktails were a great start to unwinding for the weekend.

  This is a great place to grab a really REALLY solid cocktail! Plus, they have an unreal whiskey selection (check out the Captains List online). The staff are insanely knowlwdgeable. If you are feeling adventurous, the Shrouded Roulette is always a good choice… This place is TINY so keep in mind hat it fills up fast on the weekend. Get there early to take advantage of their happy hour.

  Canon isn’t always easy to get into but this is one establishment that is actually worth waiting in line for. The complete Captain’s List is awe inspiring with the huge number of spirits available in an immense variety of styles, price points and vintages. The drink list is impressive and very well thought out and the mixologists execute them to perfection. The focus on Canon as their full name suggests is on Whisky and that portion of the list can make your jaw drop with choices that span the globe and date back as far as the 1800’s. The gin list although far smaller and the Absinthe list are tow of the best I’ve personally ever seen so there is definitely a little something here for everyone. The food at Canon is also impeccably prepared and everything I have tried was delicious. Pick out a small plate or two if nothing else because it is absolutely worth sampling even if you only came in for the drinks.
