Its amazing how some of the most wonderful things you find in life come along as a total accident? I was walking by the Watermark Tower one night for work. And tucked away in the hustle and bustle of @Pioneersquare, among some construction scaffolding I discovered @THEHEARTWOODPROVISIONS. The one thing that caught my eye and made me make a reservation on @OPENTABLE was the beautiful use of the space. You all know what a sucker I am for space and decor. The combination of dark woods all around and soft lights actually puts you in the mind of a set from Game of Thrones or Vikings when you walk into it. The restaurant is divided into three sections. There is a beautiful bar that is large, roomy and welcoming. I actually gave a thought to eating there just because of that. I know some people hate eating at the bar but WHY? Your alcohol is RIGHT THERE and the conversation with the barkeep is usually not half shitty. The other space is the bar that wraps around the kitchen area itself and I must recommend that. This area not only gives you a first hand look at how things are created but, it gives you access to the chief who will offer you his choice from the menu. So, if you feel brave, I would totally do it. The third is the restaurant seating itself. I can safely say that there is not a bad seat in the house. The window seats are thoughtfully covered half way so you don’t have to see the crazies outside and the rest are nowhere near the bathroom. I think the best way to describe the cuisine is American with an international twist. As the Secret Sauce in mos of the dishes from Chef Varin Keokitvon is fish sauce. Or at least that’s what he tells us. Whatever it is, the octopus I have with fingerling potatoes, capers and greens was done to perfection. I couldn’t help but notice that it seemed to spiced with a Moroccan blend of spice. Which was a surprising and tasty touch. Okay, usually I start with the bad but, since there was only ONE problem I had with my night there, I saved it for last. You know me so of course, it was the beer selection. I know, I know, I shouldn’t expect a good craft beer selection EVERYWHERE I go. Honestly, at such a place, wine would have been much more appropriate. But, I went to see @THEHITMANSBODYGURAD earlier that night and I had already hit @THEYARDHOUSE for a pint and shot so, I had already started my craft beer run for the night. All in all, this is a MUST EAT in Seattle and I give it a 9 out of 10
