My most recent experience at Plum Bistro was extremely frustrating. We arrived at 4:05pm on Sunday January 20th with the goal of eating an early dinner. The restaurant was completely empty, despite one other couple who had just been seated. For some reason, the hostess attempted to seat us at the table right by the front door and next to the bar. I asked if we could please be seated at a better table, preferably one with a window view (insinuating an actual window table). She moved us across the restaurant between two other empty two tops. Both of which were still dirty from earlier patrons. I should note that they were closed from 3pm-4pm but must not have had time to clean the tables while resetting for a 4pm opening. To add to this, I should also note that the largest circular table in the restaurant was covered in old food and plates. With previous history in the restaurant industry, I assumed it was where the employees had dined before opening or they simply moved a number of the dirty plates from the brunch seating onto the large table in preparation of quickly cleaning for opening at 4pm. Needless to say, the table full of old food and stacked plates isnt the most appetizing thing to look at when you are seated in a restaurant that just opened. Once we were seated, the hostess laid down a set of happy hour menus and a set of dinner menus. For the next 20 minutes we got settled in and debated on what we planned to order. Along the way, we were given a few recommendations from the waitress. Around 4:25 we placed an order for two dinner menu entrees. About 10 minutes later around 4:35, the waitress returned with an apology explaining she does not normally work on Sunday and was not aware they only serve dinner menu items after 5pm. She also said, the hostess also wasnt aware, but they would be happy to start our dinner entrees in 25 minutes. I had checked the Plum Bistro website before we came but checked again. The following is posted on the Plum Bistro website: MON-SUN 4-Close Dinner. With 30 minutes already invested we were told to invest another 25 minutes before they could start our evening. One more addition to an already mediocre experience. Frustrated, I asked for a manager. I was told she would see if she could find him but he is not always there. Close to 10 minutes later a guy (later identified as Noe) returned wearing one rubber glove and with no introduction whatsoever in an overly loud voice heard by all said I heard you have an issue with your food and I want to let you know that we dont start dinner until 5pm. Inquiring if he was the manager he confirmed he was the bartender. I asked if the manager was there and he said no. I then asked him if I could please get the managers contact info so that I can reach out to him. He grumbled and walked away. He returned a few minutes later without offering up contact info saying the kitchen was making adjustments to make our food early. At this point, far too much had transpired so there was no way I was going to eat the food. I have to assume this was also quite frustrating for the cooks, so I expressed my appreciation for the attempt to make the food early and once again requested the managers contact info, so I can go about my day. Noe pulled his phone out of his pocket and begrudgingly provided a phone number for David who he claimed was the manager. After leaving I reached out to David, but never heard back. Needless to say, this entire experience was beyond frustrating and one that guarantees that Plum Bistro will stay off my short list of classy Vegan restaurants.

Italian food I had here is by far very different from any Italian I have had anywhere else. Ordered avocado topped flat bread and another one with bbq sauce base and vegan meat (among other toppings). Vegan meat tasted but weird and I kind of chose to not eat it, but both flat breads were high on different flavors. It was a weekday and there still was a lot of waiting, but once seated, service was quick and prompt. Since the menu was rather different from usual fare the server was kind enough to patiently answer our questions.Food taste: 8/10Ambiance: 7/10Service: 8/10Overall: 8/10

Had an order of the Spicy Cajun Mac N Yease (~$9): macaroni & cheese. Also had an order of Grilled Olive Pesto Tofu (~$19): tofu served under olive pesto w/asparagus & smashed purple potatoes. Additionally, had an order of the Buffalo Portabello (~$17): deep-fried panko-coated portobello, buffalo hot sauce, ranch, grilled onions, cucumber, & mixed greens on a bun. Further, had an order of the Veggie Monster Pizza (~$17): marinara and pesto sauce topped with sweet peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, vegan cheese, fresh basil, parsley, and ribboned kale. Food was delicious, staff was egalitarian (which is to say showing no snobbery about a party with kids), and the ambiance was split-level (the bathroom is downstairs).
