My husband was in Seattle for a conference and I joined him to do some sight seeing in the afternoons. We currently live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the international cuisine scene there is limited. Having lived in NYC and Boston we missed having all types of ethnic restaurants at our finger tips. We were so excited about going to a Cuban restaurant. We were truly disappointed at the service that we received at Rumba. It seems that our waitress was to busy smoozing and chatting with people she knows than serving our table. After being seated for 20 minutes she finally came our way and asked us what we wanted to order to drink. We could not order anything because she never gave us a menu. When we told her that we weren’t given a menu she dismissively said ‘oh sorry’ and left. We thought she was going to get us a menu, but she never came back. After 5 minutes of waiting for her to return with the menu, we walked out and went to Tango the restaurant next door.Surprisingly Tango was owned by the same guy. However our experience was 100% better. He needs to have his Tango staff retrain the Rumba staff. The waitress at Rumba acted she was too cool for school and maybe with that kind of attitude she needs to go back to school.

Fun tropical themed rum bar in Capitol Hill. We had drinks here before our dinner reservation next door and the bartender was very attentive and knowledgable. He also recommended great drinks. They have any type of rum you could imagine and their drinks are all made with fresh juices. Very cool interior and the food looked good too.

If you love rum – Rumba is a must visit the next time you find yourself in Seattle. Their selection of rums spans the Caribbean, Central America, South America and beyond and also features a number of high dollar aged rums. You can do a reasonably priced rum flight to try a few new things or get into a serious rum tasting and part with a fair amount of cash – the choice is yours! The kitchen also churns out some great island style seafood offerings and other fare that perfectly matches the drink list. I especially enjoyed their ceviche and the coconut prawns on previous visits and I will be back again.

Vegan tacos. I had some great tacos – squash or something else. Very good! Stop by for a bite. They also have that GREAT bartender from the old Vessel.

Well excecuted. I have been twice now, and quite pleased both times. For starters, the space is extremely well designed, plenty of places to sit without feeling like you are sitting right next to each other, and the decor and colors are upscale and fun. The drinks menu is extremely thorough, as a rum lover, I was in heaven, as the menu ran from the most classic cocktails to some fairly obscure, all well made. The food menu is small, but thoughtful, the standouts being the chorizo empanada and the coconut shrimp. Service, atmosphere, drinks, food, all top notch.
