Ive only been to Sitka and Spruce for weekend brunch and their food has always surprised me because the menu always changes. Situated in the back of the Melrose Market, Sitka and Spruce focuses on using local ingredients and serving their food as a work of art. Whether it is some pastry that is sweet and yummy or a savory dish with baked eggs or forest foraged mushrooms, you will always get something interesting at Sitka for brunch
We went early before a play at the local theatre; the ambience was delightful as were the several staff persons with whom we interacted. The menu is limited, but fun-seasonal-marvelously sized to share. We enjoyed a sturgeon & root vege platre and a rabbit leg preparation that were both excellent. This establishment is more suited for a gormet than gourmand. Our dinner was spendy, but provided value for a special occasion. B & J of Bellevue
With a hipster, unique atmosphere and deliciously shared entres, the Sitka & Spruce Bar was a great little place to enjoy a nice meal, with a cooking show thrown in. We were seated at a bar right alongside the countertop where the chefs prepared our food, so we were mesmerized by their flair as they chopped, diced, sauted and plated our dishes. The chefs were easy going and were quick to answer all of our questions and strike up a conversation as they cooked. Served family-style, with each member of our party getting a small plate to pick and choose, you get a good variety of dishes, depending on what you order. The food was beautiful to look at- plating was superb with a taste to match. Flavours popped and danced on your tastebuds, as there’s no beating the locally grown fresh foods used by the Sitka & Spruce bar. I would recommend for a light meal and a good time.
Sat at the large table right in front of the chefs and got to watch many dishes being made! I loved out brunch orders. Very light yet fulfilling. I had a frittata dish while my friend had the rabbit. the rabbit was a bit different than what I expected… I thought the meat would be more gamey tasting. Overall good experience, the decor of the restaurant was excellent!
This place has a great space in the back of a warehouse-like building with incredibly high ceilings and windows covering one wall. I really enjoyed sitting up at the bar where you can watch the chefs in action. Our brunch was fresh and flavourful, the salmon pate was my favourite.
