Hidden little gem right on Pine, a Japanese traditional and fusion spot. Had a handful of appetizers that were great, along with a nice assortment of main dishes. The Rainbow Uni Shooter was delicious, especially if you are a fan of roe. Started with the cold ramen salad which was phenomenal, would have it again as a main dish. The bibimbap was authentic, along with the spicy ramen. We also had the spare ribs which were a bit too fatty for my liking, and I like fat. For the money, I would stay away, you don’t get much meat, mostly fat and bone, and the sauce was much too sweet. Plating was drab considering the price and how everything else looked. Might go back for the ramen. Also frozen grapes for complementary palette cleansing dessert! Service was great, tea was tasTEA
Aside from the really interesting and trendy decor (chandelier of sake bottles and a wall of Atari cartridges), the menu is ever-changing. I highly recommend the Uni Shooter and the Hamachi (Yellowtail) Kama.
Enjoyed the service and many dishes. Lotus root and fried shrimp were my favs, oddly enough. Flavors leaned to the sweet side and arugula garnishes were wilted beyond fresh. Our group sat under the sake bottle chandelier and it felt like being in an operating theater waiting for surgery. Sound bounced off the dining room at a decible that drowned out conversations from across the table. Every so often the smell of burnt plastic would waft out from the kitchen. Grill marks on the mackeral smelled of burnt plastic too. I’d return to try the ramen and other dishes but only under dimmer lighting and away from the kitchen.
Delicious Japanese Food!. Suika serves a wide array of traditional foods. I really enjoyed my meal there. The in house brewed ginger soda made for the best Moscow Mule I’ve ever tasted, and their tempura is cooked to perfection. Some of the options may be a bit more expensive, but there are still plenty of affordable dishes that will leave you full and craving more.
