This is a beautiful restaurant. It’s divided into 3 parts: a parfait bar, a noodle bar and BBQ. We had originally reserved a table in the BBQ section, after seeing the dishes in the noodle area we opted to eat there instead. All the dishes looked amazing and I selected the pork belly Pad Thai which was cooked wonderfully and had many complex flavors. I also tried the house cocktail which was delicious.
Good food, very good service- however – we sat at counter, were told we could not order from noodle menu, could not order special app for bar- they have rules which I respect. During our 90+ minute meal, we watched a bizarrely mustachioed cook texting on his phone about a dozen times. We paid nearly $150 for dinner, abided by their rules, and witnessed extremely unprofessional, unsanitary, disrespectful behavior. If you work in an open kitchen- pay your guests the respect they deserve- be present- be clean- be a professional cook. I will not return.

Well worth the wait. After trying all the other Rachael Yang’s restaurants, I eagerly anticipated Trove, making reservations weeks out to try to get into the busy Capitol Hill hot spot. When we first arrived, the 3 layered appearance made me wonder somewhat as the fast food noodle takeout is on the outside. I was prepared to be disappointed until we walked into the vibrant barbecue restaurant in the back. It was very much like the other Yang’s restaurants with an electric atmosphere and interactive chef staff. We ordered the octopus kale and white bean appetizer which was excellent. The Brocklynn Rye cocktail was excellent too. There are different amounts of meats that can be cooked in the typical type of Korean table barbecue. This should satisfy hard core Korean barbecue fanatics but the quality and the Yang twist on things satisfies the the adventurous. We will be back very soon for sure!20 Oct, 2014Trove…it’s all it’s cracked up to be. Having been to all of Rachael Yang’s restaurants, I was eager to try Trove. At first the entrance to the 3 layered restaurant seemed a little disappointing. But after we were seated at the barbecue section, I was somewhat relieved. We started off with some great appeys….i.e. octopus and white beans and Kim’s sloopy joes which both were amazing. We then had the medium meat and veggie grill which was amazing. I guess what you can sum up our dinner, it was like taking traditional Korean barbecue and adding a gourmet twist. Naysayers we ate with were pleasantly surprised. We will be back!
