Update: not impressed with the new ownership. Prices went up service went down. No happy hour either. When I asked I got eye rolls, just rude. Wont be returning.Have visited many times, often the food is pretty good (burgers & sandwiches) but Ive become really offput by the lack of cleanliness. More recently after having our party of 15 there for food and drinks during game day, we were being hurried with finishing up and getting out at 9pm, an hour ahead of closing time! I dont appreciate vacuuming while finishing my drink and most certainly not after our large group consumed meals, drinks all afternoon and tipped very well. Understaffing also seems to be an issue here over the past few visits, but especially this one which reflects in long waits for orders. It was an hour for my fries and chicken wings and long delays for drinks, the whole bar was not crowded, but there was clearly a severe lack of staff.

Horrible service and cold food. I suggest only going for drinks.

Forgetful Staff. We went out for breakfast this morning like we usually do on Sunday morning, We ordered our food and drink like we normally do, The waitress forgot my spoon for my coffee, and I asked for her to bring me one, and she did. When our food arrived, she asked if we would like ketchup for our hash browns and I said yes, now for the dilemma! The waitress doesn’t come back with the ketchup, she instead waits on a couple tables and has totally forgotten about the ketchup, I finally get up and go get the ketchup myself because she never returned. The funny thing about this story is she did the exact same thing to us the last time she waited on us and when I say exactly I mean down to even the spoon. How do you handle this?

Perhaps we came on a bad night but they seemed severely understaffed. It took nearly 20 minutes to get greater by our server. The fish and chips were okay but nothing special. The calzone was a disappointment. The filling itself was good but the crust was doughy in some spots and burnt in others while being rather tasteless. We will probably give this place another shot sometime in the future but not any time soon

I was happily surprised how wonderful their breakfast was. I was werry of bringing my young daughter after reading other reviews. However, it was clean. It was welcoming with lively music. And the breakfast was out of this world. A huge helping, freshly made to order. The complementary Belgian waffle was a nice touch. We will be back for lunch or dinner.

Gig Harbor’s best Dive Bar. HY-IU-HEE-HEE is a fantastic local dive bar. It has the stale beer smell, a well worn bar, and condom machines in the bathroom. As much as I like dive bars, this one doesn’t qualify as a restaurant. Leave the kids at home for this one and get ready to enjoy food that’s barely a step above frozen fare.If pitchers of domestic beer and pull tabs is your thing, you’re sure to feel at home at the HY-IU-HEE-HEE.

Hands down the best drive tavern west of the Rockies. The Hy-Iu (pronounced Hi-You), has the perfect blend of dedicated local drinkers and interesting out-of-towners to create a lively atmosphere. In addition to their spicy, thin-crust pizza (I reccommend the Garlic Chicken Yuppy), they have plenty of bar billiards and juke box selections to keep you entertained, not to mention a money-sucking Skill Crane machine. Whether you live in Gig Harbor or are just vacationing here, the Hy-Iu is definite must!
