First meal eaten in Gig Harbor…Best Italian Restaurant I’ve been to!. My boyfriend and I completed a cross country move to Gig Harbor in June. We arrived rather late in the evening and had driven all day. We were grumpy, tired, and starving. It was a weeknight and a lot of the places had already closed down. We called Il Lucano and talked to the owner. He told us to come in and he would feed us a great meal. There wasn’t another soul in the building. The owner, Michele, served and prepared our food for us, recommending a delicious appetizer with cheese imported from Italy. We then had the most delicious Caesar salad (the dressing is made on site) and the bread was perfect (also made on site). I come from a large Italian family and grew up eating authentic Italian cooking so I have very high standards for my Italian food! We ordered the lobster ravioli and were blown away. We have eaten there several times since then and have never been disappointed! My boyfriend demanded we eat there for his birthday after that first meal. We have since fallen in love with their lemon cake dessert and pretty much all of their soups. Michele always greets us by name when we come in and his wife knows us as well. Great atmosphere! Delicious food! Friendly servers! They go out of their way to make you feel like you’re eating a meal with family here. The food is fairly priced for the portions (I always leave with lunch for the next day!) and you can’t ask for a better meal in Gig Harbor. Handsdown best Italian restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting!!

This place is delicious! We ordered the Cesar salad, minestrone, and eggplant Parmesan. We shared everything and ended up not being able to finish the eggplant, the servings are huge! Was the best eggplant Parmesan either of us ever had! Happy with everything!!

I didn’t visit Italy while in Europe but have eaten Italian food in nice places in both Switzerland and the UK and Il Lucano is in the a category with those places. It was very busy during our visit and the service was great. My wife and I will definitely add this to our list of favorites!

Absolutely awful, don’t be mesmerized by its appearance. The service is awful and the portions are extremely lacking. My seafood dish totaled in a number of 4 shrimp and a muscle. Don’t go here if you want an enjoyable meal. THE SERVICE STINKS!!!

If you think Olive Garden is Italian food this is a step up. If you have never left Washington you will probably like this place. I lived in Italy for 2 years and this is NOT Italian food. I ordered the lasagna which had gray meat, and the sauce had too much garlic and salt. The food was over priced especially considering it was not fresh. I am quite sure the marinara was made from canned tomatoes and the salads were more white than green. The decor was an indication of what was to come but I really wanted this place to be good. The only thing good was the service/waitstaff.

We have been coming here since the restaurant opened. If you want great Italian food with a warm family feeling; come here. This is the real deal. Food doesn’t get much better.

Although food was agreeably amazing, service was a overwhelmed. Our waitress didn’t speak English well and seemed upset at my order. Maybe she was just stressed, but from what I hear it is oftenly that busy. The food may have made up for the service though, because it was probably the best Italian food your gonna find in Washington.
