  Beer is Good, Food is Not.. This place had such promise being named for it’s unrelated cousin in San Francisco. The story that I heard is that the owner of the U District’s Toronado was once the chef for S.F.’s Toronado but that they are not the same owners or are even operated in a similar fashion. He evidently had some issues with the way that S.F. was run and decided to try his hand at it in Seattle. IMHO = He has Failed. The beer selection at this new Toronado in Seattle is good but not the bomb as some might be chatting about. The food pales especially for the price paid. The Mac & Cheese that we had as an appetizer was a very low quality and should not even be on the menu if they are going to do such a poor job at it. The entrees were at best mediocre. This is certainly not gastropub quality and I feel that there is much better food available in the U District than at this newcomer place. Go for a beer, or two, but not for the food.

  Give it a try!. The beer selection was excellent. It’s not the typical pub food but worthy of Seattle and a nice break from the usual. The pasta, hash, and steak sandwhich were terrific and were a good match for the beer. The waiter was knowledgeable about both the beer and the menu. It’s a great neighborhood place and we look forward to a return visit.

  Fix the food menu!! Beer and drinks are great. I will never eat here again unless they fix the menu…… It’s fine to be adventurous in your menu if it is prepared well. It was not.

  Great place to get a beer but the menu was completely strange. I wouldn’t order anything off the menu. If the place wants to stay in business it should put some food people recognize on the menu like a burger or a sandwich.
