I love Indian food in general, and this place is just lovely. Super friendly owner, good music/videos playing, and most importantly, great food. The tandoori salmon is a favorite, as is anything curried
Vegans in Heaven!. Love this restaurant! For vegans and vegetarians, I think it’s the best Indian food in Seattle. Their vegan menu is so great! If you can eat a little butter, their Spinach Nan is the bomb! and its not all greasy like most places. The vegetable samosas are so great and all very affordable. Anyone who complains about the prices has not eaten downtown in a long time.
Good food, unpretentious, lovely family owned business. Inexpensive.. My partner and I just love this place. The buffet is, of course, the best deal but my partner can’t help but order an extra dish from the menu. Why? Because it’s truly delicious, and we can afford it!. This has been run by the same family for almost 30 years! It’s an uncomplicated place with just the sort of low-budget decor you’d expect. But the food is excellent, in the way that authentic, tasty, hearty and unpretentious food should be. It’s traditional cooking with all the basics and an extensive menu with some creative new plates I’d never heard of. Can’t recall which, but we tried something with lamb and it was expertly done, and delicious. Not weird or far out. Clearly a cook with extensive experience and knowledge of the culture. Worth a visit when you’re REALLY hungry! Hard not to stuff yourself!
I felt cheated! I paid $11-12 per entree for a big amount of half-cooked rice and 4-5 small pieces of protein per entree. Very small amount of chicken pieces compared to double amount of potatoes in the vindaloo. Naan was doughy and undercooked. Won’t come back for sure.
FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT. The ballard location has the best indian food around, and ive been to most. Try the chicken tikka masala, and you’ll be hooked. i tell all my friends and coworkers to eat there! Never had a bad meal
Best samosas ever!. Forget the lunch buffet, although it does have more items than some places, you MUST have their samosas! They are to die for! I’ve eaten Indian from Oban, Scotland to Vancouver, BC and everywhere in between (including some private kitchens) and have never, I repeat, NEVER had samosas as good as Kalia! Lot’s of their other stuff is good too but did I mention the samosas?
Lunch Buffet. Their lunch buffet has a lot of variety compared to most, however it does not hinder the quality. Worth it.
